FNF 2-19-10 Shawn Porter

Porter looks too heavy, especially if he plans to fight this kind of bounce around style. Porter flat footed now and Jordan is "ahh"ing with every punch. Porter finds some kidney to punch on and they get separated. Porter not theowing punches now. Porter comes inside with three punches as soon as I type that but it's nothing too solid. Porter backing straight up into the ropes and trying to tie up. Jordan is landing the better jab somehow. Jordan's mouthpiece is out and Porter goes back to tying up. Butterbean gives us a small reprieve as the mouthpiece gets put back into place. Porter gets caught with a jab coming in but lands 5 punches. Porter is eating way too many jabs for a big prospect. Nice little five punch combo by Porter but nothing too efficient. Porter staying way too flat footed but he's landing more punches. Jordan has taken the last 1:30 off. Since neither one dominated it or took enough of the round to make it easy for me, I'm going to puss out and go tie round.

Round 8

Porter landing with hardly any steam now. Jordan bends his waist and lands a terrific corkscrew punch to Porter's midsection, putting so much effort into it he loses his mouthpiece. Jordan covering up and making Porter miss more. Jordan's jab actually landed more consistently than any of Porter's offense, as Porter is now languishing on the outside a bit.

Jordan logged on between rounds to make fun of anyone who thinks he might be winning. I like that moxie.

Porter did a bit more this round, but he has yet to hurt Jordan or even bother him.

 

This lanky guy is coming up in weight and has been KOed 5 times? Porter has speed, but it's not top-notch power like others may have bought into. Teddy didn't, he appears to be right.

 

Not impressed. Porter lacks the power and defense and technique to do anything major at 154. Kirkland would have destroyed him three years ago.

He can improve, obviously, but I don't see a ton of upside. I do agree he's in with an awfully tough opponent style-wise just because of the height.

I don't think Porter is in danger of losing but he's been largely unimpressive tonight.

I agree. I've been wondering where exactly his future in the sport lies since the last time I saw him on FNF. He seems to short for his weight and too stocky for his style. Tonight hasn't given me any insight either.

 

lol at Porter's head-shake. It's got to be the worst feinting I've ever seen. I don't take it as taunting as he seems to throw right after it.

Atlas has it 77-75 which I wanted to make fun of but I have it relatively similar so I'll just be quiet about it.

Round 9 begins similar to every other round. Porter jumping in with flashy combos, Jordan coming forward with a lot of sissy jabs that just can't miss. Both guys stay inside and trade body punches which Porter will win 10/10. He's too fast and his punches just sound more powerful. Jordan coming forward as Wanda comes inside and lands some swift body punches. Porter is definitely turning it up this round. Porter is way too happy to get tied up though, if he's not tying up on his own. Jordan tries to get the activity level going and gets popped with a counter hook. Mouthpiece gone but Jordan is still fighting on. Butterbean calls time with 17 seconds on the clock to put the mouthpiece in. AWWWW Butterbean just took a point over the mouthpiece. I was just about to give you credit for doing a good job Butterbean.
