FNF: Delvin Rodriguez vs. Ashley Theophane & Donovan George vs. Francisco Sierra RBR

It was Donovan's best round but I still scored it to Sierra, particularly for the heavy shots he landed in the last minute.

 

Round 4

They continue the pattern of George advancing but not effectively commanding position as a ring general. Sierra whips him with a right hand that has George looking to grab, which he manages to do after eating a hook as he reaches out. George gets Sierra spun around in a clinch and gets him in a near doggystyle mount before the ref breaks it. George persistently works his 1-2 and manages to land it a bit as Sierra begins to stand his ground instead of backing up. They clinch frequently toward the end of the round.

Round 5

Tessitore keeps referring to this as the first scheduled ten rounder in George's career - but that was against Jason Naugler last year.

Sierra is whipping out his 1-2 from the hips, almost throwing it more as a 3-2 (hook and then right cross instead of jab/right). Sierra appears to have a big reach advantage as he's able to light up George's face from further out than George can get him. Sierra continues to slap away at the face of George, who holds up his forearms defensively and stumbles into the ropes.

 

Round 6

George tries to throw straight down the pipe but can't get close enough without getting rocked by the looping shots of Sierra. He takes a liberal peppering of shots that see him bouncing off the ropes and falling to his hands and knees but it's ruled a slip. That makes the second knockdown Sierra's scored that wasn't ruled as one. They clinch up and George is looking to simply hold on and bide time while Sierra is smacking him in the face with his free fist. George keeps tucking his chin and jabbing his way in blind. Sierra is ad******g by taking a step back and launching long-armed whip-shots.

 

Me too, very much so. I gave him only a fluke puncher's chance, but he's really beating Da Bomb up.
