WTF? Apparently it's starting early (on ESPN3)

Mike Lee vs. Gilbero Gastellum.

This might be a bonus bout not scheduled to air on the ESPN2 broadcast.

 

Round 1

Lee fires a strong jab, doubling and tripling it before putting his guard up and letting Gastelum wail away with looping headshots. Lee blocks everything and circles, throwing just a few groupings of jabs. They trade some hooks to the body, Gastelum a little busier. Lee has very slow hands when throwing his power punches. Gastelum is able to evade or catch them on his wrists. Lee shows some good head movement, tilting away from a Gastelum jab. Gastelum keeps attacking and lands a jab to the nose. Slow, telegraphed right hand surging forward by Lee gets parried off the back foot by Gastelum. Lee absorbs several shots to the guard before opening up with some heavy but slow body hooks. Gastelum is pushed to the ropes but fights his way off. Hard 1-2 to the body by Lee. A sustained attack by Lee coming forward on his tiptoes is virtually all blocked by Gastelum.

I'm not sure Lee did enough to win that. :think

Round 2

Lee comes forward jabbing and throwing hard right hands out of his guard while backing Gastelum up. Lee tires a bit after leading for the first half minute and plods along, throwing a few single and double jabs at Gastelum with only occasional right hands behind them. Gastelum has barely thrown anything this round so far. Lee doubles jabs, hits guard but backs Gastelum up. Hard chopping shots coming forward by Lee, all blocked but gaining him ground. Gastelum digs a left hook to the body as Lee has his right elbow cocked up a little too high in his stance as Teddy Atlas comments on. Lee cocks his head and shifts his body to the side while pivoting away from a Gastelum jab. Lee is as slow of foot as he is of hand but is able to defend and land better as Gastelum is not the Flash either.

Round 3

Lee is chasing and hooking to the body now, catching Gastelum backing up. Lee is landing a lot more now to the body than he was chasing with his jabs and straight rights. Gastelum looks a bit weathered, and is getting his guard split by the high 1-2 of Lee now. Very little coming back from the Arizonan. Lee is really working the body. Hard stuff, not fast - just workmanlike and thrown with mean intentions. Gastelum is hurt and backed into a corner with a right uppercut. Gastelum is in survival mode. Lee slowly follows and jabs. Lee just guides him to another corner with his forceful jabs. Gastelum survives.

Round 4

Hard jabs and rights from Lee, just muscling his way in. He eats a counter hook on the inside but just keeps smashing Gastelum backward with much harder punches. Gastelum keeps his hands up and his eyes on Lee's. Gastelum has only a draw and a loss on his pro record but looks like a veteran in knowing how to hang in there. Hard left hook to the body by Gastelum. Lee throws some hard shots and then jumps back behind his guard as Gastelum takes a turn. They are blocking each other for the most part. Lee bashes Gastelum's hand aside with a hard right hand but doesn't throw his follow-up jab quickly enough to shoot the gap before it's back in place. Lee loses his mouthpiece. They trade jabs from across the Tecate logo. Lee rolls up and takes a jab on the shoulder, then bombs away with several jabs and rights against the guard of a fleeing Gastelum.
