Round 2

Leon is doing more clinching and straight-up circle-happy spoiling than effective punching, but is keeping Magdaleno from getting anything off too cleanly. Magdaleno comes in persistently hooking to the body and CHOPS HIM DOWN! Leon's long body is sprawled momentarily by the bottom ropes and then hoists himself up with his go-go-gadget arms looking confused. Magdaleno keeps hammering away at him trying to score a second knockdown. Leon is back to "spoiling tall".

Round 3

Magdaleno comes in with a hard right to the body, doubling Leon up. Then a hook to the top of the trunks keeps Leon's focus down there, and a BIG RIGHT HAND UPSTAIRS!!! DESTROYED LEON!! SOMEHOW HE GETS UP BUT IS BATTERED RIGHT BACK DOWN!!!!

Solo Boxeo doesn't usually ring the bell of their first match right away as soon as the program starts, so if Jesse makes quick work of his opponent here there's a chance we can watch both sets of brothers without any overlap. :happy

 

Jesse Magdaleno vs. Jonathan Alcantara - 6 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

Round 1

Magdaleno comes forward throwing measured right jabs out of his southpaw stance. Alcantara tries to crowd in tight with his shoulders hunched up and trades with him a bit on the ropes. BIG RIGHT HOOK by Jesse. Alcantara is very cautious until his nerves get the better of him and he comes wildly hooking his way in, flopping against JM up on the ropes. Magdaleno wasn't able to get a counter off, just catching him. Magdaleno works the body very nicely with stiff shots just above the waist. Alcantara lands an incidental right.

Round 2

JM circles wide and dodges lead rights to the body by scooching back and sucking his stomach in. Nice right jab popping by JM. Alcantara reaches out and grabs him as his punches are having no effect. Magdaleno is moving too fast and too wide outside for him. Alcantara comes in with an overhand right and gets countered with a right hook as Magdaleno steps back. Magdaleno is not landing an abundance of punches as he isn't throwing very many (and is throwing some long hooks to the body that falls short) but clearly winning.

Round 3

Magdaleno is flying in with pincer combos from either side. Alcantara is walked around the ring and tries to flurry with Magdaleno near the ropes but getting the worst of it all. Magdaleno is leaping in with left hand leads, landing it well and not staying too long in the pocket.
