I agree, Wlad was open to the body. Get Wlad to drop his hands and who knows. Haye has the skill set to beat him but he was just terrible. He would have had to take risks, maybe he gets KO'ed but he isn't going to get shutout either.
Can ya find a fight he lost or was even behind in in the modern era? Those fights are so old, theyre in black and white. C'mon peeps that contend Wlad sucks, one fight. Just name ONE!
Teddy's such a ****ing knucklehead. Great fighters don't get beat by one quality. Just pressing the fight isn't going to do anything but get the dude trying it knocked out. It's going to take a combination of great physical talent, the right mental attitude, very good punching power, a great fight IQ, and a hell of a chin to take out the current Wlad. If any of those aren't there, his guy's not winning. Simple as that.
Brewster proved he could quit on his stool (without injury) in fear of Wlad's jabs :yep Wlad has improved since his losses to Puritty and Sanders over 8 years ago I remember when expert Atlas picked Kirk Johnson to KO Vitali Atlas is in good company in under-estimating Wlad though. Angelo Dundee predicted Haye to win Seems a lot of experts can imagine someone beating Wlad. They just can't find anyone who can execute their game plan :-(
Haye was a very good fighter and Wlad handled him easily and showed more dimensions to his usual game. He looked more fluid and I was impressed by the speed he showed. His record is not overly impressive to me, but he takes the best challenges, dominates, and shows up in great shape for every fight. It's hard to continue to be overly critical of what he does. I could still nitpick and continue to criticize him, but no fighter is perfect and I respect what Wlad brings to the game. He has proven that he can dominate fighters both big and small, and beat many different styles. To continue to say that he's champion only because no one comes to really fight him wouldn't be fair to him. Wlad puts in the work and controls his opponents from the get go, and his natural athleticism and good foot speed for someone that tall is the reason why they can't even get started, or get close enough to really hurt him.
I guess it depends on how you view the phase "come to fight" if you mean they physically show for the match then yes they come to fight, however if you mean showing up and actaully trying to win then no they dont. Showing up trying to win means doing so at all cost. Hay for example never took any risk meaning he was really just trying not to get knocked out, but never really put it on the line. Wlad isnt superior to the guys that he is fighting in a talent sense, he is much bigger and uses that to win fights, he also doesnt put in on the line. Wlad could do so much more then he does. However he does what works best for him and gives him the best chance of winning without risking the ko lose that he would most likely get if he tried to go for knockouts himself. I personally cant blame him for that, but I also wont watch, and I dont. The Hay fight is the first one I have watched in a long time. In fact most fans in the USA dont enjoy watching Wlad which is the reason that most of his fights arent shown here.
No need to at all times. He did went toe to toe :rofl with Haye on a couple of occasions though throwing accented right hooks in close range. Dangerous and unnecessary, just couldn't control his instincts to return the favor. But that's what makes him a human, don't it?
