I don't think that's particularly unrealistic as most fighters have preferences when it comes to what punches they through, also those refer to different styles and punching techniques. I agree though the power on the jab needs to be toned down.
Styles, Styles, Styles! Ali shouldn't be able to knock Frazier out in 2 rounds and Vice Versa. Much better career with extensive Ams and pros. Storylines and fighter hype. Fighters should be loved or hated. Extensive ratings like Chin- Chin vs. Knockdown and Chin vs. Knockout. Ratings for each hand. For example, Frazier's left hook should be great but his right hand isn't a good rating.
Get rid of parrying. And the biggest thing is make a realistic career mode. Round 2 had the most realistic career mode in a game ever, a ranking system that you could tell how much you'd move up if you win, and you could choose who you wanted to fight. If you wanted to go straight to a title shot, you fight the best guy each time. If you want to go the more safe route, fight the easier oppontants to build your skills that you only have to wait a week or two between fights. Round 3 sucked, they made you fight for things like the Burger King trophy and the Cadillac Escalade trophy :huh They also made every fighter they had in the game in the same era, so Robinson was in the same era as Leonard, Ali with Brock etc. I prefer round 2 to round 3, easily for the career mode. I liked how you had more choices with the styles in round 3, and the gameplay was pretty cool except the punches were slowmotion. Hopefully they combine the best parts of both to make the ultimate boxing game.
I know how corrupt the ABC's are in real life but putting them in the game and getting unification fights would add some realistic dimensions for the new FNR4.
Then they can put in things like: take the big money fight and get stripped by the WBO, or fight your mandatory and get bad press; build up the hype for a unification fight; etc. That could be interesting, actually. But way too in depth for casual fans.
Exactly. As many or more casual sports fans play this game as people like us. They'd think it was too complicated and never play so the developers dummy it down with things like the Burger King Title. :-(
Way more fighters and it will be cool to pick your management team and promoter. Showing highlights of your fights in the background in the career mode in main menu will be cool. I want to see fighters actual fight like themselves. The last game it seemed that every body fought the same way.
i was always thikning of a technicall abilty system. so that you have better technique for fighters if you want/need it or not. if your a swarmer a powerful left hook needs to be trained. if your a boxer mover you need your jab to be increased and have snap and combinuity. also defence shouldnt be natural you have to build it up like power speed or chin.
well dumbing it down would be the haymakers...unbelievable. they wanted an action arcade shoot out. it was one of the worst parts of the round 2 game if i remember.i mean no one... no one uses haymakers in boxing. in fact there no such thing. we all know this, a right hook gets you knocked out. i would prefer a sort of "puncher" mode where you could look for the ko when your behind on the cards. but be very open to a counterpunch or just a stray right hand.the ability to change styles would also be cool. a difference between ko power and strength. so that you can have a sort of back up stoping power to put people on the floor or/and another more damaging type of power that beats people up and makes there face look like silly putty. different punches maybe..or varieations on punches i dispise throwing a hook which was exactly the same way thrown before. i know your suppos to throw it the same eveytime but just not like that. making wieght the hardest part of boxing is on the road, so making wieght instead of just being a middlewieght or a lightwieght is just silly. jnr middlewieght or a cruiserwieght and some lower divisions flywieght bantam even straw if they could poss, would be sweet. and i would actually like to see a way of bulking your fighter up so that you arnt just catogorised in a division. you just have to make weight. so in theory you can make heavywieght with a middleweight if you just pile on the pounds and then have to drain down to get to lower divisions.
vantage i love the puncher mode thing. but i would have it as planting your feet mode or something. like pushing down the l3 button.
More one-punch KOs / KDs. Fighters who have massive punching power generally just beat down their opponents quicker in the previous games. Make it realistic, and make the heavy hitters drop weak-chinned fighters with a big counter or something.
From a gamers perspective, adding on your own music and having personal playlists in video games in general is a great idea period... And for a boxing vdeo game, well it makes absolutely perfect sense doesn't it. Even if originally the option had to be from a list of downloadable tracks. It would likely be a profitable venture and could be used in the game for a lot more than just Ring Intro's.. I personally though; think that everything mentioned in the first post would result in an insanely awesome game. But to be honest I spend most of my time in career mode and online, so I can't wait to see what EA has in store for us with Round 4 in those arenas. I also hope they take their time with the PS3 version, because that console really is capable of some truly unreal graphics and additional Blue Ray quality videos...I'll probably get the Wii version of FNR4 as well, so I also can't wait to see how I can play on that awesome console...
No more gaining power as a fighter moves up in weight. Why the **** would Toney have more power than Holyfield at HW?
