After getting excited about the Foley VS Berridge fight tonight i went back and reviewed the first fight. I missed the first fight when it was aired but wow. How in the hell was that considered a draw? Along with the fact that Foley came in well over weight. To the extent he avoided the weigh in? Berridge controlled the first 2 rounds completely, had a knockdown with 1:30 remaining in the 5th and was never called as it was a "slip". If you look at Foleys feet, it was not a slip. He was off balance and buckled over himself. Then the knockdown at 1 minute remaining in the 5th was one of the slowest counts i have seen in boxing. From the 5-8 count it took 5.5 seconds. Then the ref followed on to assist Foley from the canvas and stop counting? :huh After the second round the commentators said Berridge has come to fight here but Foleys strength has him at front at this stage. Errr, what? Foley had just lost the first 2 rounds and was going the same way with the 3rd. Foley was being gunshy and very quiet compared to Berridge, along with Berridge coming forward the whole time. I had it scored this way. Rd1 - 10-9 Berridge Rd2 - 10-9 Berridge Rd3 - 10-9 Berridge but you could put it Foleys way if you are one eyed. Rd4 - 10-8 Foley Rd5 - 10-8 Berridge (could have been 10-7) Rd6 - 10-9 Berridge 58 - 54 Berridge. Not even close in my eyes. Foleys corner even said we need a 10-8 round before going into the last round. I know it will obviously come across as a biased opinion as i am a Kiwi myself, that is not the case however. I am completely open minded when it comes to these up and coming fellas. It is just a shame when their career gets impacted in such a way from a few one eyed people. What were your views on the fight? Does the commentary and refereeing of Australian boxing put you off buying the fights? What a fight!!!! One of the best fights i have seen in the past couple of years. Massive hearts and great chins from both. Much respect to Foley for what he did in there. I hope he keeps on boxing regardless of the loss
