Shot in the dark here. Not completely boxing specific. Curious as to anyone else having gone through the surgery? I'm sitting here having done it last Friday. Feel free to delete if not compliant.
For folks undergoing foot or ankle surgery there's a weird, post-surgery pain curve phenomenon of which I think it helps to be aware. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10573441/
I know nothing about this particular surgery/condition, but I will offer the wisdom of Roy Jones Jr: God puts obstacles in our way to make sure we really want what we say we want. Always plan for setbacks. You just got dealt a bad hand (or, in this case, foot). Now what are you going to do about it? That’s what will define you. (You don’t have to share RJJ’s belief system/faith to apply this — substitute God with life or fate or the world/universe and the same idea applies.) Good luck with your recovery. Hit your rehab with the same gusto you hit your training and trust that you’ll come out of it hungrier and ready.
I'm definitely of that mindset. What does faith mean? I might not know exactly, but I know it means absence of doubt, worry. Been hitting my PT. I feel like I could jump, but surgeon has said no. Feel like I'm overall heading in the right direction, but there's a lot of potential for mentally flailing about in the darkness. I appreciate your encouragement. I'm committed to optimizing my situation as much as possible.
You’re still breathing and still typing so it didn’t kill you — let it make you stronger! Good luck on your journey back. There will surely be tough days … which means you get to be tougher. Sounds to me like you’ve got this.
