Hopkins has good footwork. Also, let's be honest, most of us aren't as talented as Ali, or have the quick feet of SRL, Pac etc.

May has good footwork, but it's what works for him with his fast reflexes years of training. I know it's not a popular choice but I always thought that Yuri Foreman had pretty good feet. Good balance, fairly classical footwork.

Spot on sir. Yuri Foreman has/had fantastic footwork.

Your first Paragraph is true too, we would do better to study educated footwork, rather than extravagant displays of athletic talent.

Yeah I'm trying to watch fighters who have orthodox stances and just solid footwork, even if they are slow. It's mostly to practice good habits.

Alot of good posts but as mentioned above, balacne is a huge part of footwork. Look at Ricardo Lopez and Ray Leonard fights for excellent balance. Bernard Hopkins is also rarely off balance.

Dzinziruk fights pretty classical/orthodox (even though he's a southpaw). He also fights in that Eastern European way, elbows tucked, hands high. His head is never past his lead foot, he doesn't cross his feet etc. It's true that this didn't really help him against Martinez, but you know, SM is a beast.

Ward v Froch is an excellent example of taking an opponents strength away (Froch's long jab)...making them miss, the opponent thinks you're out of range, but you drive in and land your own shots, followed by driving out of range.

Great judge of distance using footwork from Ward.

Roberto Duran was very skilled in cutting off the ring and setting his feet in order to take a little step back and counter punch. This is evident in most of Durans career. He didnt dance around the ring, but his subtle movements allowed him to gain control on the inside

agree with ward and Mayweather, i think they are kings of good footwork. People who say mayweather are boring are not boxing fans, the man makes boxing look like an art, people who say hes boring are more interested in a bloodbath and would probably get more enjoyment out of seeing two local drunks fight outside a pub, cos at least they get to see blood.

I watched Shinsuke Yamanaka vs Vic Darchinyan yesterday and that was a good example of a good mover using footwork to out-box a brawler. He was a bit too negative at times with it but it was still impressive imo.
