What you're referring to may have been the end of the 9-10-11? round after the bell when Eddie tore into Floyd with shots (china chin? Floyd went nowhere) No knock on Eddie who, obviously, didn't hear the bell.
I think the judges scored this one: 9-2-1, 10-2, 9-3 Floyd.
Isn't it interesting how styles make fights.
Eddie goes the distance with Liston. Floyd handles Eddie easier than Liston.
I've always thought that Jimmy Young (who I love) who lasted against Ali, Foreman, Norton, etc...in a pvp match with Floyd, might have been reached by Patterson and possibly stopped. My $0.02.

 

Always felt immense sympathy for Machen despite his criminal past.

I'm very much of the opinion that the Johannson bout exacerbated any problems he may have head. I have no proof for it but it was disgusting (not condemning it; merely rating it as a viewing experience, it's heinous!) and he went on a downward spiral after it.

Met an old bloke in Thailand the other year, said Machen was waiting tables after his career and was a stammering mess who talks to himself and freaked out. Again, I can't confirm it but I found it too specific an anecdote from a fairly quiet man at the time so there may be some truth to it.
