Footage of old Lloyd Marshall

A fight that I've always wondered why there was absolutely no footage is of Joe Louis/Jimmy Bivins...and speaking of Williams, wouldn't it be great to see his fights w/ Burley, LaMotta, Cerdan, and Satterfield?

 

Thank you, i'm really glad you've posted this. Over the course of the two clips he looked like he was mixing a bit of an Archie Moore stepping, jabbing and hard one two, with a Henry Armstrong onslaught and left hook/uppercut to the body. Looks like he'd be exciting to watch more of, if only. Was a bit wild with Farr as well, thanks again.

After reading accounts of Lloyd vs LaMotta & Lloyd vs Overlin in total domination, who's to say there was ever a better middle?

 

He sparked our Freddie MIlls ,but it was Mills who got the shot at an aging Lesnevich.

 

Cheers for posting these GreatA - I often go on this site myself (have it on my favourites list - Lloyd Marshall is the man!! Like the Farr stuff aswell - such a tenacious fighter against Larry Gains who was a classy operator himself - and Don Cockell!! He was really going for it against Farr!! That was fought at the Ice Stadium in Nottingham (know it well) - the nottingham clips on the site are of great interest to me - also like the Harry Wills footage especially the bit where him and Big Bill Tate are pretending to go through the motions - Tate was a beast - think he was somewhere in the region of 240 pounds - he had about 9 fights with Sam Langford too

Middleweight Lloyd Marshall of Sacramento last night won a decision from favored (10-7 odds) Minneapolis battler Charley Burley in the 10-round main event at Legion Stadium. Marshall floored Burley for "three" in round one and a no-count in round four. The referee gave Marshall six rounds, Burley one and the rest even.
