Footwork and punch selection, kids... I have certain reservations about Tunney but he looks good on film.
The fact that his heavyweight resume is slender, and the lack of black opponents should give anyone pause,but there really weren't that many good black heavies when Tunney was coming up. If he had fought Sharkey and beat him convincingly it would have gone some way to justifying the rating many give him for his two wins over a shot Dempsey.imo
First time watching that in color. Pretty cool. One of the smartest fighters ever. Would have been cool to see him against the likes Baer Schmeling Carnera if he stayed around a little longer.
