Great stuff Flea. I plan on watching Mamby-Viruet very soon. Do you, or anyone else know if Duran vs Mamby is around? I'm really intrigued by how they would operate against the other. I know Duran won it pretty clearly but I can't help to think Mamby gave a good account of himself.
Sadly it's not as far as I know. Would love to see Duran take Mamby's jab away from him, or at least see how the styles blended.
Vicente Saldivar WPTS Ismael Laguna H/L This content is protected Highlights of Vicente Saldivar's win against a primed Ismael Laguna, just ten months shy of Laguna's MD victory Carlos Ortiz for the world title.
excellent, excellent footage, of course they couldn't fight back then, certainly not monthly either. Paul Lewis looks pretty flippen tidy too, who was he, were'd he end up?
Never thought I'd be watching some Saldivar vs Laguna tonight. Thats a drop everything and watch fight. Thanks McGrain!
Wow, that's some awesome footage. The combined class in that fight is rivaled by few. I give Laguna a slight edge in the available footage. Seemed like his was able to take away Saldivar's combinations a bit with his great movement. Anybody know what the official scorecards read? Had to be close. Great stuff!
No offical cards, but the UPI had it 5-4-1 Saldivar. I have Saldivar with a silght edge in the footage here, but I agree seeing it the other way is totally reasonable. I swapped a couple of emails with RB about this one, he has more than me by about 2 mins, he like Saldivar too. I guess the LA Times may have commmited a slight injustice with it's robbery shout, but you never know.
It's one of those 'what do you likedecisions'by the looks of it. Some liked Laguna's boxing, some Saldivar's body work. Judging by the footage, both get credit just for being them!
