It was a pretty disgusting night, wish I'd never stayed up. I can't seem to pick a winner in the first fight you posted between Suriano and Muniz, very close contest.
I scored that fight 5-4-1 for Soriano. Very difficult fight to score, great to watch though. I wouldn't have much of a beef with anyone scoring it for Muniz.
Check out YouTube for the bigger window. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Shoji Oguma. Oguma was a surging, pressure-fighting soutpaw with a beautiful knack in timing his rushes to cause maximum inconvenience to his opponents and the engine to stay busy throughout. A one-shot strategy and an often questionable defence saw him beaten 10 times including 4 knockouts, but when allowed to fight as his best, as is the case here, he could put on quite the show. Betulio Gonzalez lost more than Oguma, but arguably had the better pedigree. Packing in 17 title fights over some ten years, he had a longevity that bellied his weight division's history. A canny, patient counter-puncher with a lethal right-hand he squeaked out a decision over the great Miguel Canto. The Fight is a classic, due in the main to the clash of styles. Gonzalez, waiting and waiting for the perfect counter-punches, Oguma, vulnerable to the right-hand, and keeping steady pressure on with footwork before rushing with sporadic pressure and swarming punches. This is the third of the four meetings between the two. My Card. Oguma: 1,2,3,4,9,10,11,14 Gonzalez: 5,6,7,12,13,15 Even: 8 So I had it to Oguma by 8-6-1. If you guys take the time to watch the fight i'd sure be interested to see your cards.
I have a card from a while ago but I keep mixing up what fight is what. I always thought Oguma as more of a steady boxer-puncher who applied consistent pressure, rather than a pure pressure fighter. I have a feeling I had this fairly wide to Oguma and the second bout (which IMO is better) narrowly to Gonzalez. Aint Gonzalez shot by this point and just a plodder?
No, I don't think Gonzalez was a plodder at all. His right hand is very sharp, and he still manages to make Oguma look stupid on a couple of occasions. I agree with you that Oguma is not a pure pressure-fighter.
sorry. you didn't quote my post so i figured you ignored me. i kind of agree that people shouldn't be uploading your fights, but if you really care that much, can't you get a copyright rule on it? or can't you at least put a disclaimer in the beginning of the video requesting people not to download? besides, the text isn't even there for the whole video
I will definitely check out Oguma-Gonzalez asap. I saw them fight once before (Oguma gets a split decision). I just thought Gonzalez waited too long to get off in that one. I enjoy their contrasting styles so I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
