    Hi all,
I started boxing about two weeks ago. I've spent some time in the gym working on the heavy bag, and that's been great for me other than some wrist soreness that it caused. Unfortunately, I can't get to the gym every day, so I want to work on improving my skills to the extent that's possible outside the gym. I shadowbox occasionally, but I'm inexperienced, so my shadowboxing lacks structure, and I don't feel like I'm really improving anything. Can anyone suggest some structured footwork drills or shadowboxing routines that I could do? Youtube videos demonstrating any such drills would be great--I can't find any good ones myself.
    Thanks

Thanks Lefthooktommy. I'll try those out. In addition, what should I focus on while shadowboxing? Should I be working the same combos as when I work the heavy bag? And what sort of foot and head movement should I incorporate into the shadowboxing? I guess this is a pretty broad question, but I haven't found specific explanations of what a shadowboxing workout actually consists of elsewhere.

You should speak to your trainer and he will tell you what to work on- if he's any good then he will know what kind of fighter he wants you to be. Fundamentally speaking don't bring your feet together, don't cross your feet. Learn how to pivot off the front and back foot. Simple stuff.

This, just ask your trainer what key fundamentals you should work on and go from there. If you want more instructional videos check this out: http://www.youtube.com/user/billiardjay
