For a mere TWO pounds, Roach is saying Pacquiao isn't good enough

Pac is the clear favourite in this fight

Yet Roach has demanded a catchweight

Which guarantees no matter how well Manny does, it will have been against a weight drained fighter

I dont understand it myself, if Roach just allows Cotto to weigh 147 there can be no excuses, absolutely 0, he should let Cotto come in at anything 147 downwards, its crazy IMO, he`s giving the critics something to cling onto if Pac scores another massive win.

Roach asked for 143, Cotto asked for 145. If the fight is at 145 then they are fighting on Cotto's terms, not Pac's

He should just go up and fight for the belt. 7 belts in 7 weight classes.

Why ask for anything? It makes no sense to me to not have this fight at 147

But why give the critics ANYTHING to go on, I personally wont blame the weight no matter who wins but you know loads will & Roach or even Manny himself can prevent this by fighting at 147.
The 2 pounds should not be a huge factor but it WILL be used as an excuse if Cotto loses, mark my words.

JCC fought Whitaker at a catchweight of 145.
DLH fought Hopkins at a catchweight of 156.
Wright fought Hopkins at a catchweight of 170.

In all three events, the first fighter named was the one who demanded a catchweight.

No real criticism was ever lobbed at Chavez, DLH, or Winky. Oh, and all three lost.

Pacquiao's already competing in his eighth weight class (a span of ten weight classes in all). Stop crying and read the resume.

If he wins, Pacquiao will get full credit from all the people who matter, which definitely excludes me, you, and everyone on this board.

If he loses, Pacquiao will still get full credit for taking on a challenge and moving up in weight from all the people who matter, which definitely excludes me, you, and everyone on this board.

    Either way, you can't win.

Answer me this. With Cotto having weighed 146 for his last fight, do you think that there will be a significant difference at 145? The answer is probably not so why is pacman giving him the chance to make an excuse. Have the fight at 147

    hmm says...

~145 is still 147 aka WW aka full WW since Cotto can still rehydrate to full fighting weight.

~I don't know why ppl are saying 147... Do ppl want Cotto to weigh-in at exactly 147?

~We already know he weighed in at 146 with Clottey so why not 1 more lb?

~Just think of it like this...

~I know it's weird that there's a catchweight of 145 even though Roach said Cotto can weigh in as much as he wants (so what's the point of having restrictions/a catchweight?), but Cotto is the one that asked for 145. Just think of it as the sentence I highlighted in orange.

~Is 1 more lb such a big deal when Cotto knows his body's limit and is the one that said 145? If ppl can argue against Roach, ppl can do the same for Team Cotto for this supposed travesty?

~All-in-all, the fight is all green and good at 145 so nothing really to make a big deal about.

roach likes to play mind games... that's all i can say. I really don't think losing 1 pound would affect cotto physically but it might in a way affect cotto's mental approach to this fight.

Thats my view, I wont make excuses but some will & Roach said he`s sick of the excuses so just make the thing at 147, the end.

First, to all the haters/crybabies, I agree with you that 143 would be unfair to Cotto and leave him weight-drained.

But if Cotto's OWN nutrionist says he can do 145 easy, then that's an admission of COTTO'S CAMP that it will not be a problem.

For those who have never boxed before, 45 is important because the walk-around weight the next day will be proportionally different than weighing in at 47, because of the training regimen that would be involved in losing the extra 2 pounds.

But AGAIN, Cotto says 145 = no problem, so 145 = no excuses. Miguel's camp set that boundary, NOT Roach.

The way Cotto's been pushing water even when he was back at 40, he would balloon significantly in the ring against Pacquiao, who would weigh in closer to 140 and still re-hydrate under the limit. On the other hand, Cotto could very well be a jr. middle/middleweight in there.

The haters want to see Gatti-Gamache II. But it's a good thing they'll never be anywhere close to a negotiating table, much less a microphone to say anything substantial to people who matter.
