I've always thought so. The dude can take a ****ing beating and keep coming. I mean in the both the Calzaghe and Jones fight, though neither are huge punchers (at least Jones wasn't at that point in his career), they literally landed at will on him for 12 rounds (11 with Jones) and he just took it and kept coming and never really seemed to be too hurt. You really do have to respect the guys chin. One of the best ones in boxing IMO.
against taylor he got peppered differently and still was willing to come foreward. too top heavy and too flat footed and too unagile...very good chin and had heart to boot.
No, No,....don't you know anything about this forum? When Calzaghe beats somebody its not because Joe is good, its because they were so poor. Hopkins was washed up rubbish...until he dominated Pavlik of course.
Disagree. Very solid heart. He has been hurt against every top oppnent he's faced. Even some lesser opponents hurt him badly.
Having chin and heart are overrated if your skill level is going to lead you into vicious prolonged beatings. Who has Lacy beaten that would suggest he should have been considered above any of the 30 or so contenders that come and go at a particular weight every couple of years? He never beat anyone.
Jeff Lacy is a much better SMW than given credit for. Good chin, decent power, fast hands and brave. His resume isnt bad either with Reid Manfredo Tsypko Pemberton Vanderpool Sheika With Reid and Tsypko being good wins, arguably a better resume than what L Bute has at this time. Lacy badly hurt his shoulder in his fight after Calzaghe, so we will never get to see if he could have come back after that terrible beating, as he has become a bit of a one armed fighter.
Good chin, great heart. However this didnt stop him getting totally embarrassed and outclassed when he stepped up.
I wouldnt say he had an iron chin, no way. He had a decent one, but it wasnt one of the best in boxing. The guy was all heart though, and i got nothing but respect for Jeff 'Left Hook' Lacy :good
