I thought they did a great job last night. Especially in light of the fact that all the undercards were blowouts, and they basically had to kill like 45 minutes ha ha. I was genuinely entertained by Larry Merchant for the first time in a while, it looked like he was having fun again. Lampley was on point as usual, and it was nice to finally see Manny Stewart admit he was wrong about a fight, instead of just saying "this fight is going exactly as I expected" like he usually does ha ha. All in all, a slick, entertaining and exciting broadcast from boxings best.
Haha yeah. But it was nice to see them so loose and visibly excited for the fight. I'm in broadcasting and let me assure everyone its not easy to be such a pro under circumstances like having to kill 45 straight, unexpected minutes lol.
They did, I'm from the UK so watched the fight live on Sky with their commentary team, plus the replay this morning and a third time as my mate found it online with the HBO commentary! I like them, find amusing, good characters.
I agree.. no one imbellished..Merchant was calm..Stewrd was spot on anchored by Jim..solid night.. Pre fight analysis ..no over the top comments. post fight interview by Merchant was great..props to both fighters for class displayed. post fight analysis was great. And BTW Merchant called this fight a year ago and Arum made sure he got props.. Good night for boxing
I was waiting for a senile comment/moment from Merchant. It didn't happen, instead he was just senile..
