For all the Khan management nuthuggers: This is what a real prospect performs like.

How are we supposed to assess the IF in relation to Khan's chin when he isn't put in with punchers?

I've said it before (although not on this forum) and I'll say it again... Khan and Warren might well have suspected that Earl was shot. Suspected. They did not know and could not have known whether Earl was shot or in good shape. Earl's previous fight was that fabulous little war with Katsidis, and if that Earl turned up then Khan was going to eat some proper shots.

Khan got in the ring with Earl. That says a lot about his and Warren's confidence in his chin. Earl could be shot, he could be firing on all cylinders, either way Khan & Warren figured that Khan was going to win.

As it turns out, Earl looked pretty shot. But Khan took the risk, and I ain't read diddly squat about anyone giving the boy his due credit for that.

So, he hasn't taken on Mr Thaxton. If he did, I guarantee that some people will be banging on about "Thaxton's only domestic level, never proven himself above that level. Another dodgy fight". Since Khan isn't facing Thaxton he instead gets accused of ducking him. A textbook no-win scenario.

As far as I can see, the lad is learning from his mistakes & stepping up his level of opposition with each fight. He might have a dodgy chin, but what's he supposed to do? Cry into his milk and hang up his gloves because he isn't the perfect talent? Or instead, should he not maximise what talents he does have whilst making his money and giving decent entertainment along the way? He obviously works hard in the gym and turns up to fight. I bet he threw more shots in two rounds against St Claire than Wlad threw all night on Saturday.

The lad's a cocky little sod who looks like he's letting the money & fame get to him. I hold that against him. However, in the ring... I find nothing to fault.

give Khan time, what is the rush....if he can give the master Kindelan a good fight at 17, he will be fine in the pros until he gets to true elite (p4p level)...cant see b level fighters like Katsidis giving him trouble. Katsidis and co (not including juan diaz who i think is elite) want Khan asap as they know in a few years (when he is gamboa's age) when he has matured they wont be able to get near him. Their best bet is to get to him early (i dont mean in the next fight or two - but in the next year or two) whilst he is still inexperienced. My advice is ignore the hype over the next two years and watch him progress slowly and in the mean time keep watching gamboa.

Another point is that it wasn't just the Katsidis fight that ruined Earl - for me, his previous bouts against Romanov and Ramirez contributed also.

Lets not forget that Earl is a SN fighter - so surely Warren would have made it his business to know how HIS own fighter was faring in training, sparring etc.

I honestly do not believe Warren would have put Khan in with Earl if he thought Earl presented a genuine risk to his star investment.

If Willy Limond can have Khan on the brink of being counted out, then I'm sure Michael Katsidis can give him "trouble".

No Khan hasn't taken on Mr Thaxton - despite repeatedly calling him out in a disrespectful manner.

Some may well suggest Thaxton is only domestic level but Khan isn't PROVEN above domestic level himself yet. The fact remains they are the biggest domestic rivals in their weight division.

To those who say Thaxton has not proven himself above that level at least he is prepared to step up to that challenge by attempting to capture the Euro Title in his next fight. Coincidentally, against that Romanov guy - the same one that Warren said Khan would be fighting next if he wasn't going to the States.

Khan gets accused of ducking/avoiding Thaxton because he has blatantly side stepped him by allowing himself to be withdrawn as his mandatory challenger. Perhaps he thinks Thaxton and the British Title are beneath him.

Text book no-win scenario? Far from it, I am a Khan critic but I would give him a lot of credit for facing Thaxton and even more if he can take his punches.

Mostly agree with that but I can see the point some people are making about increasing his level of opposition because it's obvious that it's in reaction to the hype that he gets...ppl are human at the end of the day and this has to be accepted.

This thread is just typical most of the stuff on Khan as Khan is generating a lot of publicity for boxing fans over here which is a good thing i guess. Altho, i have to admit that i don't really see the point of the point that's being made here cos it seems to be back and forth :D . The comparison with Gamboa... ...well i think it's just to ignite a discussion i guess. Sometimes it's just a shame abt how much discussion he brings up (most of it BS).

But i do think that no matter which route he takes to a world title, he will eventually fight the best out there. I think Khan is the kind of guy who will demand tougher opposition himself but trusts the ppl around him to aid him in the development to take on the likes of Diaz. So what if they've recognised a weakness in Khan's chin and are protecting him? I'm sure Khan recognises his own weaknesses and is sticking with a rather smart long-term game plan (oh, i think that's too obvious). Damn, the kid is lucky he hasn't got some of these posters as his management!

The right competitors will eventually find him if (when, IMO) he wins any of the slightly meaningful belts. If he's knocked out against his first meaningful fighter (satisfying a lot of people, i must say), he'll go back to fighting bums, just the way it works, until he's ready for another challenge. ****, i can't wait until he's KTFO or rises to the top soon (**** being patient) this Khan thing needs to end soon!

Wtf is my point? Don't have a clue! Just didn't want to stick to the topic and just wanted to come out with the same old crap i usually do.

Gamboa holds his gloves very low. He's very exciting but I can see him getting starched by a "lucky punch" somewhere down the line.

Keeping your hands down is a common trait amongst flashy and very talented boxers. It's not really a case of imitation. It's more like it comes naturally to those types of boxers.
