Yeah, like I said.. Roy of the 90s was a complete freak and beats everyone in my view from 160 through to possibly 190.

But Roy of the 00s? That's a beatable fighter for someone like a Calzaghe or a Hopkins.

Calzaghe is useless. Hes never fought a great fighter anywhere close to their prime. What has Jones done other than brutally getting knocked out twice in the last 5 years. Calzaghe beating Jones does not warrant any merit

True. But Tyson also did go to prison for a 3 year stint, and had multiple brutal wars in his career (Douglas, both razor Ruddock fights, Holyfield fights, etc).

Roy Jones Jr. was knocked out cold in back to back fights.

These events, plus their greater number of fights, increased the wear and tear on each fighter.

By the way, I believe Jones in 02/03 (circa Clinton Woods) would have beaten Calzaghe with ease.

He was still a 7-1 underdog. Sure, some people picked Roy to win, but not the intelligent ones.

Calzaghe would catch jones even off the ropes in his prime.

Tyson was never the same following the death of Cus D'Amato, because he stopped learning to box and started relying solely on his physical abilities. Cus was definitely the brains of that unit and Tyson was never the same without him.

Roy Jones Jr had a similar experience in terms of nullifying where he was so great as a boxer... what happened to Gerald McClellan really stopped Jones Jr from looking to go out and absolutely outclass and hurt his opponents. From that point on, Jones Jr was not the invincible fighter he used to be, fear had entered his heart.

All Jones does now is try to walk through punches covered up and throw 1 or 2 punches once in a while. Prime Jones woulda KTFO Calzaghe in 1 or 2 rounds tops.

lol, 7/1? do you just pluck numbers from the air? he was 9/4 (in the uk which is probably better odds than the us) which is about the odds of malignaggi beating hatton

In all honesty, anyone who says Joe C. beats RJJ in his prime and actually believes it is either delusional, uneducated, never saw prime Roy or is a relentless Calzaghe nuthugger. Different class of fighter.

This is why I hate seeing fighters fighting loooong past their prime, people look at what happened to the old carcass they dragged into the ring and thinks that's the way things always were. Prime Roy is on a totally different level from Joe, he would spank him and make it look so easy everyone would be bitching about Roy fighting only second class opponents.

He looked just as fast, with just as high a workrate, stamina, and relentless will in the Jones fight as in any other.

Calzaghe's only real drop-off would be his brittle hands and slightly deteriorated speed, which really doesn't seem to have deteriorated very much at all. He's still flurrying just as fast as ever, and looked just as fast on his feet vs Jones as ever. Not to mention his skills and ring intelligence are at an all time high.

why do you bother, yes we know jones was great but he hardly has a great resume of fighters!the 'shot' video is against quality opposition and the 'prime' vid is against school teachers and garbage men!
