Why on earth would any network put boxing on TV if PPv numbers show that there is virtually no interest in the sport?

With regards to every other PPV fight we've been "treated" to the last few years, this one is definately one of the better fights. Unfortunately I have no interest in the card as a whole. Yes, Cotto -vs- Margarito will be a good scrap. But the fact is its simply a card comprised of Cotto defending his title against one of the "factors" in a division that is largely ignored by the general boxing public.

I'm not paying for this "fight" because I have no interest in shelling out $59.99 to view one fight (which is all I would get out of it). This is something I think should be on HBO BAD.

Unless they make the CARD worthwhile with more than one important fight, I don't see why it has to be on PPV. Thats just my opinion.

Most PPVs are not worth half what they charge. . . this is not one of them.

I will not get it in Sweden, I will be watching a live stream over the net, but if I could buy it I would.

I can't buy PPV where I'm living right now.

So it's either the bar, or at home on the comp...

I'm choosing at home on the comp...

Definately, there is a good chance of that happening. I'm just not convinced that a card like this is deserving of PPV status. I'm sure there could be some exciting and dramatic fights on the undercard, in fact, I usually get more enjoyment before the main event than I do during the main event most of the time.

Still doesn't make me believe it should be on PPV instead of BAD or some network for free.

I'm just not convinced with the whole "We have to support boxing" arguement. I support the fighters, not the promoters. Until boxing starts supporting its own, I won't feel obligated to shell out for Golden Boy(etc.) cards. There are too many fighters out there who are dumped once they are finished on the World Title circuit or unable to box due to health reasons. Boxers who are living in relative poverty after their promoters see no more use in them. Sure, we got Tyson's, and Ali's who get by on name recognition and paid appearances.

I'm not trying to get all high and mighty here, I've bought PPVs before and I probably will again once I get a reliable satellite. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel obligated in any way to shell out $60 for one meaningful fight.

And before anyone says "Well the boxers get a cut of the PPV revenue..blah blah..you don't support them if you don't buy the PPV." Yes, I actually do support boxers. I've more than once paid for a fellow boxer's flight/hotel in order for them to get a decent fight scheduled. I've given money to well over 15 families of boxers who cannot compete anymore nor get a decent job due to injuries sustained in fights.

Cotto and Marg aren't going to be hurting for money if nobody buys the fight. But can you say you'll be there for them when they are out of the spotlight?

Meh..enough of this rant..its been a long ****ing day . Buy the fight guys, or Sopcast it, it will make no difference in the end. There are those who will say it will help boxing to survive..and those who say PPV is killing boxing. I say, boxing will be just fine.
