I don't think Tyson is given enough credit for his wins against Ruddock. People remember mainly the post-Tyson Ruddock who was caught and stopped in 2 rounds by Lennox Lewis and other fights like the Tommy Morrison slugfest but at the time that Tyson fought him, he was probably the most feared and avoided heavyweight in the world. Bigger, just as strong, if not stronger and probably a harder one-shot puncher then Tyson, yet Tyson was pretty much able to beat him at his own game and dominate him even though Rudduck did manage to land several great shots himself. I would say that Ruddock was never the same fighter again after Tyson

The truth is somewhere in between

Tyson had more trouble with taller fighers overall.

Yet he beat them all during his prime, except when totally lax in training & health against Douglas. You can speculate about height vs. ATGs, but Tyson gets a harder rap than about anyone for "struggling" even during UD when hugged like a Prom Date.

Also many of the names right above were very good contenders, not all "tomato cans".
His competition overall was not bad; most all HWs & so many others get slammed for fighting "bums". And some get a relative pass,

Results vs. Lewis & McHale are an absurd argument. He was pretty shot against an ATG, & basically the ghost of a corpse against McBride.

No Tyson didn,t have special trouble with taller guys!
it,s the heavyweight division ! so most guys are taller than 6 feet 2 .
in his prime only loss was against Douglas who is of average height for a heavy.
losing twice against Holyfield proves my point ( Evander being below average height )
losses to LL and Mc Bride had nothing to do with them being tall guys , but with the lack of motivation and proper training .

Obviously, Tyson was bound to have trouble with taller guys
when 99.99% of his opposition was taller than him

Ali had trouble with black fighters because he lost to Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Spinks and Berbick

Vitali has trouble with black fighters too because all of his losses and decisions were against black fighters

This whole Tyson struggled with taller fighters is bullsh*t.

Tyson was a puncher, punchers normally struggle with movers or guys who dont play ball

The f*ck? There are plenty of quality names in there. World rated championship caliber fighters that Tyson crushed. Tyson went 21-1 against every opponent that was 6'3" or better until 2002.

    Buh bye! :hi:

Tyson fought pretty good competition overall, better than so many HWs & some ATGs.

Spinks was 6' 2", NOT 6'. He was 212 lbs., bigger than some ATGs. He was 31-0 & had never been down in his career.

Let's try to be fair, not just pick a side & throw the most biased possible case together.

fan man your claiming HEIGHT was tyson's nemesis right? you cited the smith and green fights.i simply pointed out the facts, smith was injured in the 1st and literally held the whole fight! green fought back a little more but was easily beaten, neither fighter kept mike on the outside.ie problems with taller fighters.okay?

Easy. James Tillis was 6'1". Step aside.
So what you're saying is Tyson only destroyed guys who were 6'2" or less?
