I'm new to study very old fighters and I'm wondering were all you experts pull your old news paper articles from, and get your information. Any pointers?
I can't help much but I have a similar interest. I don't know where to find much information but a source for some great old fights is a Youtube channel called Smooth Legends. They use A.I to upscale and enhance old footage of classic fights that has proved really useful to my own analysis of fighters. They don't have all of the videos as full fights, because of how long it would take to enhance, but they have some really, really astonishing quality of classic fights I had never seen so clearly. Going back to the early 1900's up until the late 70's or so
Various sites. Some are free, some you have to pay for. Generally the free ones are regional, and more limited in time span. https://nyshistoricnewspapers.org is a good one. https://elephind.com/ is a search engine for multiple I used for a while. There's also a lot of Australian ones freely avaliable https://www.nla.gov.au/collections/what-we-collect/newspapers For paying for them newspapers.com is the best one overall IMO. Though https://www.genealogybank.com/ https://newspaperarchive.com/ and https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk all have ones not on there. It has good covered and usablity.
If you aspire to do your own historical research and not just rely on the conclusions of others, newspapers.com is pretty much a necessity IMO.
That said it does also depend on where and when you want to study. If you wanted to focus on the UK, https://newspaperarchive.com/ and https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk , would be the two best to get.
