    Thanks for sharing these. Locche's nickname fit him well.

    As far as Floyd's moves and defense, they are not original. He employs the shoulder-roll and shell like defense which has been seen before with James Toney and Nicolino Locche in the past. The earlier Mayweather's had similar defenses which Floyd has learned from, although none of them hold a candle to Floyd Jr.

    Despite this, it doesn't take away from Floyd's defense as it is extremely effective and certainly one of the best I've ever and will ever see. Floyd's reflexes are amazing and his speed is almost second to none. Floyd's footwork is amazing too. Sometimes he leaves me saying "how the hell did he do that?"

    I think that Floyd is a better overall fighter than Locche. As I mentioned, he is faster and better on his feet. He is more athletic and has the better reflexes. Offensively, Locche was good, but Floyd is better. More explosive and more powerful. He has, by far, the faster hands.

    I agree with all of that, and the post definently isnt to take credit from Floyd... its just uncanny sometimes how boxers styles that we think are one in a million are repeats in some ways of historical fighters.

    Obvious proof that boxing really hasn't evolved much over the past 100 years.

    Boxing has been around for hundreds of years. Everything has been done already. As it happens, when young people discover something , they think they invented it.

    Brooklyn... also, the way he leads with the left hook and the way he uses the uppercut off the shoulder roll on the ropes is more similar to what Mayweather does than anything I have ever seen.

    Here is how I would rate them;

    Defensively- Rocche
    Offensively- PBF
    Overall- PBF

    I agree, I could go round and round about this with Amsterdam. Pep, Locche, they would be incredible fighters today.

    though i know its been argued 100000 time I'm of the grain of people who think that though styles and techniques may be similar, they have on average been perfected throughout the years.

    Yet Peps movement of foot is unlike anything I have seen in todays fighters.

    I don't know why anyone would think Floyds stye was a new style hell Mayweather Sr fought witha a similiar style back in the 70's I do think Floyd is the best at his defense...He has the reflexes and speed to pull it all together...

    Who thinks that Floyd's moves are "original"??? :lol:

    Geez, don't people watch other fights by the name of Mayweather?

    Boxing's been around awhile, you're unlikely to see a fighter who's style is brand new and original.

    Maybe someone like the Prince. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a style quite like Naseem Hamed.
