Jones maybe the greatest TALENT to ever step in the ring. Had he listened to his father and worked on his skills and not relied only on his talent he would have likely retired without a REAL loss. Another thing that Jones Sr wanted for his son was to win titles at 154 before going to 160. He also didnt think that it was a good thing for Jr to move up in weight the way that he did. Jr wanted everything RIGHT NOW, and he wanted big fights RIGHT NOW. Jones wanted a title and he wouldnt wait. He fought for the number one spot for the WBC supermiddleweight title in 1992, after winning the fight Jones had forced a fight with the winner of the rematch between Nigel Benn and Mauro Galvano for the WBC title. Benn said that after he won the fight with Galvano that his next big fight would be vs Eubank to avenge his two loses, one at the hands of Eubank and the other at the hands of Watson, whos career was ended at the hands of Eubank. Jones didnt want to wait. He had an offer to fight for the vacated IBF middleweight title vs Hopkins when Toney gave up the IBF title cuz he could no longer make the weight.

Man I took off, this really has nothing to do with the topic....Im sorry:?

Actually it was an interesting read....I didn't realize that he had that going on at the time. He would have crushed the 154 titles holders IMO. Wasn't Norris the big gun then?

Yes, Norris was the man and the WBC champ while, Gianfranco Rosi was the IBF champ, and Julio Cesar Vasquez was the WBA champ. No one cared about the WBO then, it was just getting started.

I rate Norris highly at 154....but I can't see him defeating Jones in any way shape or form.
