Too many weight divisions but mainly too many organizations equals fights like these can be hyped and unfortunately made with an underserved belt on the line at a new weight...

They won't reveal Tony's fight night weight.

DLH went after Pacman. Its not like when Mayweather was chasing DLH giving DLH a lot more negotiating power.

DLH was supposed to fight Cotto as his farewell fight, Cotto lost to Margo and DLH didn't want to fight a fellow Mexican in his farewell fight. His remaining options were Pacman and Paul Williams who beat Margo. 2 exciting offensive fighters so that DLH could go out with a bang.

Negotiations with Pac broke down at first because DLH wanted 70-30. Pac and Arum turned it down. DLH then dropped his split price to 65-35. Showing you that Pac/Arum did have negotiation power.

This paragraph is my opinion. DLH was also insecure about what people would think about the size difference. Roach looking to ensure that nobody gets any advantages over his fighter and DLH ballooning up to 150+ on fight night while Pac is only around the low 140s. DLH didn't want to weigh in when he fought Mayweather knowing that he put on a lot of weight. But choose to weigh in vs Pac to show that he was 147. Not like anyone would have cared if he weighed 150 people would have expected it actually. The re hydration clause was agreed to not give DLH an unfair advantage of weighing to much for Pac. Which makes sense of DLH coming in at 145 and weighing in at 147 on fight night.

It makes a lot of sense. I don't think it lessens the accomplishment of Pac beating DLH. But if he did it to Cotto as I believe he did then I think it does lessen the accomplishment of beating Cotto.

If Margo weighs 154 on fight night then it solidifies it. If he weighs 158 or something like that then I won't bring up re hydration clauses again.

It's not in top Ranks best interest to reveal Margarito's fight night weight.

HBO hardly ever does fight night weights anymore.

Well, they have shown the fight night weights pretty consistently, so them not doing so in this fight would go against the trend.

DLH was 147 on fight night against Pacquiao because that's how much he was actually weighing at that point. He is on record as saying that he was only just above 147 two months before the fight and was sub-147 all the way through camp. You can't 'rehydrate' to a weight that you don't weigh in the first place.

I don't like this catchweight fight but the pac haters make it seems like pac is the only one who ever fought at a catchweight for a title.

Well it was actually Hopkins opponents such as Winky and Pavlik who demanded the 170 pound catch-weight.

The 154 pound title should be fought for between 2 fighters weighing anywhere between148-154 pounds in weight. No 150 limit because that heavily favors Paquaio. If Pac wants to come in at 150 thats fine. Margarito can come in anyweight under 154 too

DLH was in deplorable condition for the Paquaio fight. He was badly dehydrated & weak as a kitten. Probably the result of using dieuretics.
He got the ass kicking he thoroughly deserved for blatently ducking Tony Margarito

You can still be drained by losing too much mass when your body should be packing on more weight.

DLH hadn't weighed like that in over a decade + more.
