Very true. The loss was definitely something that propelled Loma further in developing as a pro fighting a guy like Salido. He still would have gotten the experience if he was credited with the win, but having that “L” logged on his resume surely lit a fire under Loma. He’s apparently not used to losing?

Apparently not. Although it wasn’t $1M....it was only $720K that was offered to Salido. Maybe the $1M would have been worth another “L”?

When Lewis was KO’d by Hasim, he wasn’t paid more than Lewis in the rematch. And that was a decisive win without any controversy. The Loma/Salido fight was a highly controversial loss that many felt Loma won. As the A side, Loma wasn’t going to be paid less. Salido was offered $225K more for the rematch which would have been his biggest payday since his first fight with Loma. There was a more reasons to take the fight from a financial perspective than to reject it....if he felt he could beat Loma that is. Beating Loma twice would have definitely been a feat that would have increased Salido’s stock as a prize fighter earning him even bigger paydays.

Nobody thought that Loma won. Everyone watching knew that Loma lost and were surprised at how close the scores actually were.

the pressure comes from garcia always in a position to hurt you for 180 seconds of every rd. mikey doesnt create space between you allowing you to rest, he is always within range waiting for you to lose focus for that split second. the concentration needed to defend against punches from a guy of mikeys caliber is mentally exhausting, it starts to force mistakes from mental fatigue. if youre bigger than mikey then thats not a problem, but loma is not bigger nor does he punch near as hard.

Sure there were. The majority were fine with the decison but there were many who thought Salido lost a close decison and that Loma deserved the W. It definitely was NOT a robbery with regards to the judges scoring the fight the way it unfolded in each individual rounds. But the low blows by Salido were definitely NOT being called by the ref. Easily, Salido could have at the very least been deducted 2 points or DQ’d for the blatant fouls throughout the fight.

I remember watching the fight live and was fine with the decison. I thought Salido won and the judges got it right but watching it again I thought Loma etched out a very close decison.

This. Salido's price for the rematch was always $1 million, but they kept low balling him, so Salido moved on.

On the other hand I can understand him, he’s prob annoyed with some fans of loma and can’t be objective anymore , just like I can’t stand Joshua , I never liked him, but his british fans makes hard for me not to root against him. Same with wilder and some delusional fans of his.
