For being a mega fight, Cotto-Canelo doesn't change the boxing landscape

I think it's an important fight because1)it marks the end of future HOF Cotto 2) might be the start of another great Mexican legend (I said MIGHT) and 3) clears the road for a bout for the undisputed MW champ.

I also think it's a bigger fight than Ward/Kovalev, both of whom are not universally known and don't represent an old ethnic rivalry as does Cotto Boricua vs Canelo Mexico.

Will it really though? Cashing in on a blown up Welter who's 35 years old.

Giving GGG a tough fight would earn him way more respect than a demolition of Cotto right now would. Don't you think?

That's part of my thinking. For the Canelo legend to grow, he'd have to defeat or otherwise have a great fight with GGG. But for that fight to happen he has to get past Cotto. Ergo.....Cotto-Alvarez MIGHT change the landscape of boxing!

The fight has already lost much of its luster given the likelihood the winner will duck GGG.

Cotto-Canelo is a huge fight in name and otherwise. Cotto could solidify himself as an ATG and as the best MW out today putting a stamp on a legend.
After back to back loses to Mayweather and Trout going on to beat Martinez, Geale, and Alvarez it would be one of the best comebacks in years.

Canelo is a rising star and though he has a good resume and some great although close wins over Trout/Lara hes yet to put on that breakthrough performance, a win here puts Canelo in the drivers seat for being the next big star in the fight game.

Neither of these guys are media creations and, got there fans and respect in the ring vs tough fighters.

Should be a action packed fight anybody hating on this fight is exactly that a hater, most of em just mad there favorite fighter is making excuses to fight bums.

Cotto is already an ATG PR fighter a win here especially a dominant one and it would really be inarguable, wins over basically all the best fighters of his era dont be dumb man.
