Once again that pathetic "but Salido doe..." argument. It is like Lomachenko wasn't green when he fought Salcheato. It is like he hasn't improved since. Keep reaching that is the only way you can discredit that man.
Lomachenko was 7-0 going into the Salido fight, with 300 plus amateur fights prior to that. You can't use the green argument, when he schooled Russell Jr. a few months after he lost to Salido. The Salido L, made Loma 7-1. Nobody is reaching. What Duran, or Sandy Saddler would have done to Lomachenko would have been brutal.
No he wasn't 7-0 like I said stop reaching. WSB fights are not professional fights, even if those were scheduled for 5 rounds, he fought fellow amateurs there, not pros. As for the Russell fight, Lomachenko knew it better how to pace himself than against Salido. But he was green against Russell as well, now he would give Gary a bigger beating, probably make him quit as well.
Marcel should be there, I think Jorge Castro should too, and De Jesus is a no-brainer, but his out of the ring activities prevented it.
I have to agree here. These guys fight 5 round fights with no headgear against much better opponents than your average fighters starting out.
Couple of other former and future World Champs like Mamby and Kobayashi flesh out the resume. Hell, even Mendoza-first guy Duran ever faced as a pro-went on to challenge for a title at 122 against Gomez. He was facing a pretty decent caliber of foe from the start.
Yeah he really was, the fact that he beat Marcel, who was maybe the best Panamanian ever at that time in his 16th fight was impressive.
He had no problem with pacing a few months after he lost to Salido, when he beat a better fighter in Russell Jr.
Except he took several rounds off when he fought Russell, because he still wasn't sure how to pace himself effectively for 12 rounds.
Yup, he was paid for those fights as well. They started being removed from his record on boxing websites because his promoter was pushing to make him the next great Euro boxing superstar, and it's easier to do, if you claim he's fighting for a world title in his second pro fight, as opposed to his 8th pro fight. His current record stands at 16-1.
He fought under the 10 point must system, with no head gear, and got paid. That is a pro fight, my friend. Just because it's the next great Euro boxing star doesn't change that. His current record is 16-1.
Loma would have to get a title at welterweight before we can even make a comparison. So far he is at 130 and 3 weights class apart. The comparison is absurd at this stage.
