Have any of you ever taken a bad shot to the ear and had your equillibrium thrown off. I got hit with a shot in training wednesday night. I went down, everything went black....then saw a light and a loud noise, almost like a train coming (No Joke, sounds made up, but I'm dead serious), then came back and stood up...all in a matter of maybe 2 seconds. I was weary legged, but I finished the round and then went to war the next round. The next morning (yesterday) I felt dizzy and off balance like the ground was moving almost. I trained light last night, did mits and drills with this other fighter. Woke up today even worse, REAL off balance. Whenever I switch positions, look one way then the other. If I'm walking straight, then look to the side I stumble. It's real bad. I wet to the doc today and then he sent me to a neurologist. Everything is alright, said my inner ear got rattled and I should'nt do anythin but excercise bike for a while. May take 2 weeks to fully go away. This ever happen to anyone?
The ears are your center of balance so any swelling that occurs will severely alter your balance and sometimes cause that dizziness. Glad your OK though Dawg.
The only times I've been caught on the ear it hasn't so much destroyed my equilibrium as ****ed up the pressure in my ears and left me unbalanced in that regard, which is really irritating.
Thanks dude, I was kinda worried for bit. I've taken alot of shots, but never felt effects like that the following day, and now even worse today. :deal
I've had a similar situation though not as extreme as your seems to be. I was in with a guy that threw looping shots a la Mayorga, and he caught me on the ears a bunch. Took a few days to really get the cobwebs out. Honestly, thats worse than a clean knock out. Its kinda like a sprain is worse than a break.
I'm stumbling around like I'm drunk. It's wierd man, like I'm trying to walk on a cruise ship in a rough ocean. Looping shots are the worst, I don't care how good the guy is if his stuff is clean I'd rather spar him then some sloppy, wide throwing guy.
Yeah man. Its gonna get worse before better, but as soon as the swelling starts to subside, you should be fine. Get off your feet homie!
I normally sparr without the head guard but yea, ive been hit in the back of the ear and did a dance and sort of lost my legs and landed on my ass. it was a second or two delay wen i fell
Btw you should go and get this checkout by a doctor becuase it is strongly advised that you get cheked out after taking a punch like that in boxing.
I already did man, thanks. He said my inner ear got shook up and "concussed" and it may take 2 weeks for it to get better. In the meantime, rest it and don't do any excercise but the bike.
I got my eardrum popped from sparring without head-gear,,, like an idiot. Funny thing was it didn't even seem like a hard shot. Just the way it landed flush to my ear... And it was so sick... if I held my nose and blew, I got this weird whisling sound out my ear... No ****! I wasn't badly hurt at first, but then pain and DIZZYNESS & NAUSEA got worse as days went by. Doc said I had a pin hole in my eardrum,,, It kept filling up with fluid as it healed, and that pressure build up was causing the problems. Seems like it took forever to go back to normal... but healed up fine eventually. Lesson learned. I always wear my gear now... no matter what.
