He needs to beat Pac,Shane, and Williams. Cotto can be tossed in there too, but i don't think he absolutely necessary. Pac..because he's the pound 4 pound king, and just destroyed two previous PBF victims much more convincingly than PBF did. Shane because he is THE 147lb. champ...and i think his speed, toughness, strength, power, and new trainer would/could trouble Floyd...AND Paul Williams because he may just present the biggest obstacle to floyd out of them all...with his size, punch output, speed, new much improved defense, stamina, toughness...reach
I agree but the Williams fight isnt gonna happen. So Beating JMM, Pacquiao, and Mosley will be close to top 20 but he might need another win. Williams still just isnt that big yet for Mayweather to take a fight with him, i dont know another fight he can take.
Get past Marquez, beat Pacquiao, Mosley/Cotto/Clottey (whoever is considered top WW at the time), and fight Paul at 154. That should leave no doubt about top 20 at least.
I have him about 45-50 right now..if he had stayed retired I might have reviewed that in a year or two..he may have moved up a few places or maybe even dropped some. Beating smaller but great fighters in Pac and Marquez wouldnt see him shoot up my list, as by that stage the quality of fighter is very good and moving up would take some work. But that being said I could find some room for him in the top 40 mos def I reckon. Beating a past-prime Mosley, the winner of Cotto/Clottey (which is not as significant as some people would like to make out as both have shown their limitations) and Williams (whom I was never that big on but am starting to warm to) isnt going to significantly launch him up either. Which isnt really bashing the achievment of beating those guys at all but a nod to the quality of fighter and the quality if their wins, that are in front of him. For Floyd to get top 20 he would be sweeping past guys like Emile Griffith, Alexis Arguello and Barney Ross, among others.
And I honestly dont think those wins or Floyds career overall justify that. It still would be very impressive and is certainly quite possible if he wants to chase it...Id probably find a spot for him in the low 30's, with wins like that.
