For how long should Mayweather be considered p4p No.1 if he only keeps on fighting...

...and beating...de la Hoya and Hatton?

Should he be given the benefit of the doubt until he fights and beats Cotto, or should we just say: "Yeah, this guy is semi-retired; he's fighting only exhibition matches against big draw opponents; p4p has nothing to do with that..."

Can you remain p4p No.1 if you don't fight and beat Top 10-15 p4p opponents (at their ideal weight) for over two years?

    What do you think?:think

He has never been in my p4p #1 spot. He has picked the road of least resistance to gain belts and/or money.

Based on skills he is way up there, but till the day he faces some prime elite, who can proberly test his skills, then he can't be no.1 for this fact alone.

In my book, he's 3 or 4, on a correct scale.

But on the typical scale, it's even slipping against his favour and I just made a similiar thread!:yep

I'd take him off the No 1 spot now. Good fighter but he got there by belt chasing the right fighters and some were coming off losses when he won belts off them. Plus he resorts to pot shotting because he lacks the strength above lightweight.

There are better fighters than him too.

    Me neither.

Calzaghe's declining, Pac DIDNT beat Marquez(even though I'd really love to stick him above Floyd regardless for fighting true top, top class opposition in his own ****ing weight class).

Man, I wish either Marquez or Pac could have just won decisively so we'd have a legit P4P #1.

Calzaghe TKO'ing Hopkins before 5 rounds may do it though, when added to the Kessler win, because nobody else at LHW could possibly do that.:think

Come on Joe, please do that!:yep

Calzaghe TKO Hopkins...doesn't really matter how early...or Calzaghe UD by less than 3 rounds lost to Hopkins, AND win over a proven Dawson (who went past Johnson and Diaconu) and I would say: Calzaghe is p4p No. 1.

Yeah, should have been the winner of Pacman v. JMM, but that fight was much to close to give a clear outstanding fighter.
