For how long should Mayweather be considered p4p No.1 if he only keeps on fighting...

    Than the current Mayweather?

    Joe Calzaghe
    Joan Guzman
    Cristian Mijares
    Chad Dawson

You idiots seem to think Floyd's still the Floyd from 130-135, the pot shotting, declined version of Mayweather is not the most talented in the game and his weakness to the pressure style can edge him out in a P4P H2H sense.

Let's say Pac was a 147 fighter in his current form, against the Mayweather current form. 50/50 fight.

Now take any of those others I listed and say weight was not an issue and everyone was 147, he doesn't defeat any 4 of those in his current form.

    GUY IS NOT PRIME ANYMORE.

Prime, different story. I don't even think he could beat the current Shane Mosely at Welter, he's been looking very limited as of late on what he can do.

    Joe Calzaghe.

Can handle a guys strength at his own weight, better stamina and can outbox a guy without being bullied on the back foot being pushed onto the ropes.

Yeah but who could compare to that kind of resume. Dawson is already proven in a sense that Calzaghe's power won't affect him anyway, it's a hard fight for Calzaghe stylistically and our P4P criteria takes beating stylistic nemesis' very high.

Kessler- old Hopkins-Dawson in a row, there is nobody in boxing with that kind of opposition because Kessler and Chad are two PRIME elite level fighters at their own weight class.

Old DLH's and Hatton do not mean that much.

An impressive Calzaghe win over Hopkins elevates him to the number one slot in my opinion.

Why Johnson, Woods and Tarver already beat him and Hoye beat Woods before Diaconu and when Hoye was more active too.

    HOW impressive?

I'm looking for a brutal blowout in 5, that's it.

This is what I disagree about. I think at 175, Calzaghe has the power to finish Dawson, if he gets him into trouble. So, I am still to be convinced that Dawson has the right kind of chin. If he is chinny, it doesn't matter whether he has elite skills or not...he ain't elite!

cf. JMM - not a great chin, but not even Pacman could stop him.

If Diaconu cannot stop Dawson, and he WILL definitely go for it, puting it all on the line, unlike Adamek, than, yeah! I agree.

No because he doesn't have the benifit of weight classes that only have a limit of 4 or 5 pounds otherwise he could handle them.

It would be more Impressive to win a title at 168, 175 and 200 than winning at 130, 135 and 140, not much of a weight to jump up between super feather and light welter.

A stoppage victory at any point in a fight he was in control of all the way.

Gift or not, he has tried to seal his no. 1 claim by taking on the biggest threats - which is why he is entitled to have it.

I am in no doubt that Calzaghe could have it - if only there were/are more great fighters to face for him.

Going for Dawson, and beating Kessler are good ways to establish his crown.

Cotto still haven't done enough either - yet.

For me, only if Hopkins is at his best, giving the best possible performance he can, right now, and only if Calzaghe dominated him in very impressive style...and even then...there's still room for debate, because Hopkins is faded and old [read: tired down the stretch and lower workrate]
