For how long should Mayweather be considered p4p No.1 if he only keeps on fighting...

If Mayweather beats DLH and Hatton again...

...and in that time Calzaghe beats BHOP, Pavlik and Dawson...

    ....then Calzaghe is #1.

Pavlik = middleweight who doesn't have the time required to build up to a real SMW by the time Calzaghe is likely to fight him. So...this win would count for less than, e.g. a win over Bute.

What I think is that we should keep the p4p No.1 slot vacant for now; there's simply no credible, definitive case to be made for anyone to fill it, at the expense of the other reasonable contenders.

Pavlik just fought at a catchweight just below the SMW division, hardly clambering the divisions, is he?

If he dominated him a la Lacy (which I fancy he would do) it would be a fantastic win.

Pavlik weighed maybe up to 172 lbs on the night; Calzaghe would weigh more like 182 lbs on the night...big enough difference, don't you think?

I'm on about on the scales.

Why the big fuss about 10 pounds? Heavyweights fight with 30+ pounds deficits at times and win.

Two attempts to beat a shot Morales then fights him again.

Fights Barrera when he loses to Marquez.

Any Mexican Pac fought he got overrated for It and when he fights a fresh fighter like Marquez he Is clearly outboxed. Recycling Mexicans don't cut It.

Because Pavlik is no HW. And because he could punch harder if he was 182 lbs himself. Calzaghe would have a big, unfair advantage, if Pavlik climbed up to SMW in one go to fight him.

I did enjoy him making Hatton look like an amatuer I agree.

When has DLH been P4P anything since the early 2000's?

We're talking about Joy Boy being dropped a slot or two for doing nothing while others do something.

What does a scripted wrestling match have to do with anything - this is boxing.

Regardless of weight, Calzaghe schooling the unbeaten Pavlik would be a very impressive win.

P4P # 1 is now vacant, on a correct scale.
