For Johnson being such a great fighter, why does he have so many losses?

Is he really just a bad luck child that always ends up on the bad end of close decisions, or is it something else? After watching the Johnson-Dawson fight on YouTube it's hard to see how this animal could've lost so many fights in his career.

Did he reach his peak a lot later in his career, or something? I remember thinking he looked awfully green against Hopkins, was he just slow in reaching his full potential?

  2. Yeah he did slowly reach his potential but what he shows you also is that fighters prevent fights from happening because of the names on his resume, its impressive.

He is a great fighter and I for one would love to see him fight Joe, my two fav boxers going at it and it doesn't bother me one bit who wins because at the end of the day I want to see the best man prevail. I don't want my boxers protected.

As for the bad decisions he doesn't 'go with the authoritative flow' thus he gets **** on but he doesn't care and more power to him I say, the man fights his heart out, doesn't drink booze nor do drugs or eat fatty foods and is very wealthy off of the back of it.

    Go Johnson! :bbb

He's had a lot of close decisions in his career that usually dont go his way.Not sure they were all robberies however. I thought he won against Dawson by a couple of rounds and I tend to be biassed for the skillfull, more defensive fighters normally.

well he traveled a lot..only got stopped by hopkins as a middleweight. Been around the world, robbed around the world. An example would be fighting ottke in germany. I hope more people would give him credit, i didn't see most of his losing fights so I can't tell how he got rob but he was robbed as a lot says

Great fighters had losses too. Glen Johnson was 32-0 when Hopkins took him apart.

He is a true road warrior. He has taken many fights without properly training, though he is always in very good shape. A bit of a gym junkie by the sounds of it.

When he gets a chance to train for a fight and is fully fit his results speak for themselves.

Prior to the RJJ fight I would have said his stamina was questionable. He kept a great pace but I had seen him tire in several fights after Nard. I think the first or second Woods fight, he was strong early and seemed like the superior fighter but faded late. Pretty sure he was rocked in the last round of the first fight.

I thik Omar Sheika hurt him to the body in their fight. And that seem to really keep his workrate down.

Obviously when he stopped taking fights on short notice and trained more throughly, his physical style worked much better. I think his power is actually a lot better at light heavy.

Also faded badly in the third Woods fight and that cost him the fight imo. His stamina seemed better against Dawson. A crying shame he didn't get the verdict and I'm a big Dawson fan.

Thought he was ripped off in the first Woods fight but lost the third.
Also heard from various posters over the years that the Otkke result was fair enough. (Though I'll believe it when I see it!)
Think I'm gonna track down as many of his fights as possible on the net.

That's a ****ing awful example....that was NOT a robbery, that was a fair decision. It wasn't even controversial!

ottke fight was fair. Sven only does just enough sometimes because he knows he can get away with that at home. Mostly the reason why he never fought outside Germany.

Yeah, but not many of them rack up 12 defeats in such a relatively short time.
