I have been cramming in the last few weeks, reading, watching and learning about a lot of these guys that I didn't know much about, and this list will probably evolve with time, but I wanted to write it for my 5000th post, so here it is as it is.

I have probably missed some people out, and doubtlessly there are some indefensible inconsistencies, but as of now, I am quite happy with this list, and I look forward to any comments/criticisms/abuse :D :

Which Greb fights have you seen?
Good list in general but I have to shake my head whenever people rate someone so highly who they have never seen fight.

Floyd Mayweather should be higher, as should Lennox Lewis.

Hopkins probably a bit lower, Hagler higher.

    In general pretty good :good

Carlos Monzon is to high. He has less longevity at the very top, fewer great wins, achieved less over fewer weights (obviously) than Archie Moore, for example. And why would he be above Benny Leonard and Bob Fitzsimmons? Fitzsimmons has wins over an ATG middle for his title at middle, and an ATG heavy for his title at heavy. Good places all round for these other guys, though I think you have Ali two high.

Once again, pretty good. A few points - why is Monzon so much higher than Louis? Louis had a similair period of total domination, the difference being he beat more ATG fighters belonging to his weight (Baer, Walcott x2). BTW, I also think Jones should be above Monzon (who I have around 22). Your thoughts?

You know my problem here, but it's the only one, another good slate.

Jack Dempsey? The middleweght I take it?

Nice effort. Billy Conn and Holman Williams should be on there.

We can all talk about a guy you left out or a particular boxer is rated too highly, but to hell with that; that is probably the best attempt at a top 50 that I think I have seen; those type of lists, with so much history and so many names to consider, are really difficult to compile.

One hell of an effort PACFAN; well done:good

Congrats on your list and your 5000th !

I notice you have corrected your impressions of the relative merits of Tito and Tommy.

BTW, I missed one of your posts from Thurs last and responded over the weekend.

Who the **** was doing the voting for that?

Lewis cleaned out a division. Calzaghe's resume is not good...

A lot of British people don't consider Lennox Lewis British.

Calzaghe also has plenty of stupid fanboys who hark on about 20 odd defences and being undefeated.

I, as a Calzaghe fan, place him easily in a top 10 British alltime list - of which Lennox Lewis is #1.

I'd have Lennox at #3 behind Ted Lewis and Jimmy Wilde, but Lennox is ahead of Calzaghe every single time.

Great list :good, I could never do that. The only thing I want to say is Archie Moore looks a bit too low for me. I think he should be in the top 10-12 range but that's just my opinion.

Whoever said Calzaghe deserves to be in the top 50::patsch . He's an all time top 10 British fighter and I'd say he'd make a top 100 but top 50 is pushing it too far.
