Born in London, wore the Union jack in his pro career, loyal to Britain, has a British accent, about as British as you get.

i was discussing a particular case where steroid use was detected. i'm not slating pacfans list , its a good un although i havent seen alot of the fighters which i admit, i'm not even slating roy jones, i just think its a shame that its always overlooked.
if people were doing a list of greatest sprinters, would ben johnson be near the top ?

i refuse to believe things are that bad in boxing. i know cycling is more or less destroyed now because of people turning a blind eye.
i just dont think most boxers are on illegal steroids , i'm not having that. if it was the case then i wouldnt follow the sport anymore.thats not naivety, its called faith in the human race

and letting marquee names like jones jnr and mosley off the hook can only make the problem worse.
you're either against the problem and go all out to change it, or for it and do nothing.

  9. he's a piece of ****! What he did to Frazier is something I can never come to terms with - there's smack talk, there's prefight windups - but not to that extent, not to the extent the family was actually given near death threats? And it took until 2001 I believe for any real apology (apart from telling Fraziers son once after the 3rd fight) to be made. P.O.S.

He's ridiculously overrated and should not be anywhere near the top ten!

Your bias is obvious. Therefore your opinions will not be taken very seriously.

  11. Owen - there's not a case of bias. I was actually fairly supportive of Ali before I saw that documentary, - i had always felt he was somewhat overrated, but could understand much of it. Now I've seen what he did to Frazier, and when I really look at the body of work - it's good, it's impressive - it's not worthy of top ten in history though. Not by a long way.

Exactly the same way I feel about it. It's not even cut and dried that he's the #1 heavweight of all time. It seems to me like emotional bias plays a big part in why Ali gets ranked so high.

  13. I know it's not popular, and almost considered a crime worthy of a ban - but I do agree. He's a great fighter - but many others have achieved equal - or greater, yet Ali gets credit like no other fighter.

I respect what he did in the ring - but as a man, I cannot respect him - no way, the entire Vietnam thing - that was more to help increase awareness for his NOI beliefs than anything else - IN MY PERSONAL OPINION.

    Good list.

    Marciano beat #'s 6, 14, & 18. He should be higher.

I'd put Salvador Sanchez higher. He was one of the greatest, I'm not going to penalize him for his short career. Dismantling Gomez and TKO'ing future great Azumah Nelson are two very big wins

What Ali did to Frazier was ice cold psychological warfare and I vehemenetly disapprove of his tactics. That being said he is the #1 alltime great fighter.
