What did you think Of Galindez and Saad? I admire their immense courage and determination. There were real fighters that you dont see anymore like them. I think the last fighter cut from this same mold was Hagler.

Probably based on the fact that he was a 5'1 WW knocking out Heavyweights on the regular.

Ruklie tell the truth when have you ever seen Hopkins put on a performance such as the time Hagler dispatched Hearns? Hopkins isnt capable of fighting that hard. He didnt do the things that I've seen Hagler do. Hagler was simply magical when it came to the art of meting out concussions.

When has X displayed the sheer explosiveness of Hagler in the Lee fight or the savagery displayed in the Minter fight or the inhuman pace coupled with the skill level displayed in the first Hamsho fight?

Has ANYONE ever displayed the kind of courage that Saad showed in the second Lopez fight? It looked to me almost that he was going to be killed standing up. Talk about ability to soak up punishment then come back!

Saad and Victor along with Bob Foster, that monster of a lightheavyweight and even Micheal Spinks are all worthy of top 35 consideration-much more so than some lazy fat slob like Eddie Gregory.

I think Steve Farhood said it best "I favor short term greatness over long term goodness"

I have seen Saad fight, but not Victor. That they are favourites of yours does not make me want to rethink my list. Saad would be in my top 100, but he is not a top 50 fighter IMO.

Barbados is #30 based on the fact that he was 5'1" and a natural welter, and regularly fought and defeated good fighters far naturally bigger than him. Actually, I think I maybe ranked him too low because I don't know as much about him as I do about other fighters I never saw on film, like Greb. The argument should be whether I ranked him too low or not, not too high.

I am finding your posts on this thread a bit of a dull inconvenience to be honest. Marvin Hagler is not a top 10 OAT fighter in any way, and Jones cannot be top 10 on a p4p list because of his resume. Replying again to basically say I am wrong is pointless as I have already done the list and am happy with it. If you feel so strongly about my placings of Hagler and Jones, write your own and show me how it should be done.

Fair enough, but irrelevant in a discussion regarding the formation of a p4p list based on resume, achievement, skillset etc.

Saad was a very exciting fighter but he doesnt belong in a top 100 list he has a good resume but he never beat a great fighter.

Yes, but have you considered how determined he was, or how brave? Or are you one of those people who think personality traits like those have absolutely zero to do with a pound-for-pound list? :D

Pacfan do you go by the name Dinamita also? Why not just stick to Pacman? It's confusing me :huh

And why would you place an "a" at the end of your name? Is there something about you I don't know?

You really should check out film of the great Galindez and Saad Muhammud. They were destroyers much like Hagler was.

Look, Micheal Spinks doesnt have any great names at 175 to boast of either yet was considered great by what he showed in the ring.

At the start of 1983 Marvin Hagler still had not defeated any name fighters (recognizable to you) yet was overwhelmingly considered the best fighter in the sport over the likes of Spinks, and Pryor who had just come off a huge win over Arguello.

Names are nice to have on a resume but to me it means little in an actual fight.

To further prove my point, Look at the Norris Leonard fight. Ray Leonard is SUPPOSSED to be the better fighter (more accomplishments, all that bullcrap, etc.) based upon each man's resume and quality of competition. The odds against a Norris victory reflected this. In fact, no one has ever successfully argued against it.

Norris hadnt showed that he was capable of being anywhere near leonard's class and yet it was a mismatch in Terry's favor and this is how I view Saad, Galindez, and Hagler. yes it's true that Hagler doesnt have any names recognizable to you other than Hearns and Duran but I think what lies inside a man, namely how much fight he has in him, is mostly what determines greatness.

I have to say, that's a pretty good list. Not exactly what I'd have but still one of the more sensible ones.

You really are a bit of a patronising *****, you know? Recognizable to me? You think I don't know who Bernie Briscoe is, or Vito Antuofermo, or Alan Minter, or Mustafa Hamsho??

I changed my name today, for personal reasons. I have an "a" at the end of my new name because the name is "Dinamita" - it is spelled with an "a" at the end. I have already told you I have seen Saad Muhammad fight. His resume means he is not a top 50 fighter of all-time, sorry.

Perhaps you should go and take your "superior" wisdom and give it to someone who actually needs educating from someone like you.

    Cheers mate :good

I think the main gripes seem to be my placings of Monzon, Jones (too high), and Louis, Wilde (too low) - do you agree? (I am happy with my placings, the only thing I would change if I revised it now would be to include Fighting Harada, but I would appreciate your comments and criticisms of course).
