Tough one - plenty of people have Lewis #1 full stop.

Calzaghe would be in the 6-10 bracket alongside the likes of Ricky Hatton, Lloyd Honeyghan and any three of about eight others.

Roy Jones is bizarrely high on your list, when I've often seen you criticise his resume in the past. Infact, to you it was contentious as to whether it was even better than Hopkins, yet he's placed 17.

You always place most emphasis on resume, so what is the deal with that?

His ranking would obviously be based on his accomplishments. The fact that there is no available footage doesn't take away from the fact that the man existed and accomplished phenomenal things, arguably greater than anyone else who's ever fought outside of maybe Langford, another fighter with little footage.

Yep - Not bad actually, although I'd have Fitzsimmons inside the top 10 - Maybe at 9.

Boxing fans are divided into two schools of thought I think: (1) those who believe you have to have seen footage of a boxer to have an opinion on them, and (2) those who believe you can have an opinion on a boxer having never actually seen them fight. I believe both schools of thought are perfectly legitimate, so I wouldn't take issue with your point of view.

Personally, I used to belong to (1) but now I belong to (2). My reasons for changing my position on this are (a) I have realized just how much you can learn about boxing by reading different sources, both primary and secondary, and (b) it seems a bit silly and a bit disrespectful to me that boxing fans like ourselves should choose to ignore/reject/forget some of the amazing fighters that shaped the formative years of our sport.

    IMO :bbb

Also, if you've beaten excellent guys that we've seen does that not speak for itself?

RJJ has a good resume. Beat a lot of good fighters, some ATG's and HoF's. And was spectacular. I don't see a problem with it. Hopkins should be higher, but I don't think higher than Roy.

I mean his resume could've been even better, like everyone's can. But certain fights couldn't be made or didn't come off, doesn't take away from the fights and fighters he fought in their prime who were elite, and future ATG's. Everyone who has ever fought, even if they have good wins will be criticized in someway. They do it to everyone, even the best.
