Yes. I study freelance for a PHd, which basically means I can skive at the computer all day whenever I want. As my education slumps, my boxing knowledge improves - and I know which I find more interesting/fun!

Pacman84, straight out...you irritate me, even when we agree. I don't know what it is, but I find you to be really pompous...but that said, hell of an effort. I'm a tight ass about even giving top 10 lists, so I'm really impressed with the work put in...now if only you were cooler. :D

Good list mate, you've obviously thought long and hard about it. I like that you weren't afraid to throw some of the more recent fighters up in the mix.

I believe more modern fighters are unfairly castigated for circumstances outwith their control. I'd like to write a list one day that based purely on skill/ability, as for me Leonard, Whitaker and Jones would all be top 10, and Hopkins and Mayweather would be close to it as well. Cheers for your comment :good

Before I go and google Barney Ross, tell me something about him. At the risk of sounding ignorant, I really don't know anything about the guy. You've got him sitting directly on top of Fitzsimmons, Moore & Leonard. That's pretty impressive company. I'm very familiar with all of the other names on the list, not so familiar with Ross. Fill me in...

Oh and BTW, great list-thanks for the effort!

You won't find many who rate James Toney more highly than I do, and he didn't miss my top 50 by that much, but sadly I couldn't find a place for James. From 1991 til 1994 he was immense IMO, an underrated genius of a middleweight, but since then he hasn't been consistent enough at the very top level. Which is a shame as we all know he had the ability. If I ever write a top 100, Toney is a lock for a good placing. I love the guy.

He was the 1st 3-weight world champion in history. Now go and do some research on him, you'll find it very very interesting! A truly great fighter and character.

Ray Robinson? Even if Jones is the best H2H ever, does he really belong above someone like Burley, who could have been just as good in a H2H sense, has a resume that blows his away, and doesn't have devestating knockout losses to his name? I understand what your saying, Jones was mesmerizing in his prime and that is hard to look past, he would not be too far lower on my list than he is on yours.
I think he has more of a case than Carlos Ortiz who is in your top 30. I rate him higher all-time at 135 than Ortiz (although it's one spot), and his success above the weight is more impressive (how many other Lightweights are going to beat Gavilan).

Better resume, success in a higher weight, long undefeated streak, and on his best night Olivares was on the same level overall as Sanchez IMO. Not much in it if it's just one spot over, but still, I have to go with Olivares above Sanchez. (and I'll throw in Luis Rodriguez above both).

Have you seen any footage of Harada PACFAN? He's an awesome fighter to watch. Would certainy make my top 50.

If you haven't seen any, this is him stopping Kingpetch to become Flyweight Champion at age 20 (I believe).

And some rounds of his first fight with the Great Jofre (who was drained from making the weight, but no one else proved themselves superior in the ring to Jofre in 78 fights)

As your opinions are by me :thumbsup
