Before the Kovalev saga Ward was this angelic, polite, god fearing christian which I appreciated; it was a refreshing change from the same old rags to riches gangsta bs. Post Kovalev, Ward has really won the mental battle of mind games, at the expense of making him look like an absolute diva, a cry baby, a sore winner. And I had Ward winning the fight...

Ward already gets no respect from casuals who don't know who he is. Regardless of the result, Ward will lose respect from the hardcore fans too. A shame because he has one of the best resumes of any active boxer atm and is clearly talented.

I think Ward likes to feel in control and maybe to feel he has advantages in some way. Thats not to say thats a bad thing but I am not sure that some of the things in his career would have happened if it wasnt for opponents giving ground, ie like the S6 fights at home and there is another thing that I recall reading with Ward also.
As a guess, Ward doesnt appear too eager to be the away fighter in big match ups.
I think Ward would get alot of praise if he were to face Kovalev in Russia.
    Still thats only my opinion.

    Agreed.
His talent for headbutting and leg tackling is unsurpassed.

I don't think many people saw him like that. His persona was always despised or seen as fake in the hardcore boxing community, even his fans never really liked it, they just praised his skills.

His legacy as a fighter is already cemented as a Olympic Gold
medalist and winning the Super 6 . Anything now is icing on
    the cake.

For me he's always been a hypocritical diva in terms of negotiating fights and fairly dirty in ring fighter but a supremely talented boxer. It's not changed my opinion of him at all.

I've said for a while he has stifled his career in favour of favourable match making which is a shame as talent wise he is good enough to have surpassed that and gone down as a truly great fighter.

It's a sad indictment of the modern boxing fan who favour the '0' over taking risks and possibly taking an L and therefore being 'exposed'.

Just by knowing "where" hes from you could have gotten a sense of his innate douchebaggery. He will always be bitter that he got a gift decision against Kovalev, it will hunt his dreams, especially once the boxing experts write about the robbery in the future.

Ward deserves some criticism but it's like people love to hate him. They go too far.

He's not a coward or a piece of ****. He's a diva, a control freak. And reading up on the whole Goosen situation, sounds like he wanted out of the contract after signing an extension, then proceeded to look for loop holes in sloppy fashion.

If Goosen shouldn't be fighting in court over contract disputes because he has cancer, then he should've quit. Legal disputes are part of the business.

Holyfield had a similar image but he fought anyone, anywhere and had the heart of a lion. The dirty stuff with him started when he was getting older like it did with Bernard. Ward is just unlikeable and his fouling is undeniable.
Its on youtube for everyone to see

I actually don't mind the kind of character that Ward has, I just don't like him being fake. I would like him to be more openly arrogant. It would be better for boxing too.

Favorable match making? He's ducked no one and moved up with every intention of facing Kovalev! Aside from Manny, he has the best resume of any top 10 fighter! Favorable match making.... SMH
