Yeah, my post was one-sided but it was intended to get a real discussion going. I'm not saying Hatton was a better fighter at 147 but he was definitely a physically STRONGER fighter at 147. You could make the claim that Hatton was less coordinated at 147 but it'd be tough to claim he wasn't bigger or stronger. As for your Cotto points, Cotto hadn't shown any of the power he had at 140 at 147. Plus, he was always hittable. I think the two pounds made a real difference but it's tough to say how much of an actual difference. I think Manny wins a UD in a tougher fight at the WW limit. I think Cotto's power was VERY overrated at 147... I think the only reason he didn't move to 154 sooner is because he'll have even less power. Pac is an impressive fighter but I'm not sure we aren't watching a carefully constructed illusion. If he beats Mayweather, he's definitely ATG status.
I'm sorry but your not making any sense. Pac stunned and dropped Cotto far worse than anything Mosley managed to do against the same opponent.
That's a misconception....PAC has actually LOST speed....which is understandable....he's gaining in muscle mass which will slow him down. He's just THAT MUCH FASTER than the other WW's out there. He was faster than the guys at LW and Featherweight as well. The power hasn't really been increasing either. He's gotten stoppages from the accumulation of punches but there was only ONE KO...against Ricky. Which wasn't normal. That shot wasn't one that happens often in anyones career. Manny usually doesn't sit down on his punches...he's blasting off combinations on his toes without planting his feet. EVERYONE was amazed that PAC put Rick to sleep but it was a perfectly placed shot that landed with a guy who is extremely fast and explosive. He's not heavy haned. Floyd moved up in weight but he's had problems with is hands. But he's still maintained being the faster fighter, with better reflexes and conditioning which is the same as PAC. His power hasn't really came up with him b/c his style isn't really one that emphasizes POWER...it's more less sharp accurate well place punches, coupled with incredible timing. The difference is PAC was a clean slate when Roach got him...he had all the tools and talent going in but he was a lot of room to improve. Floyd since birth was learning the craft, sciecne and skills of boxing. He's always been at a very high level above his peers. People are amazed that Manny has evolved b/c it's happened very quickly but you have to remember the tools, talent and ability had always been there...he just never had the resources or foundation to harnest those attributes until linking up with Roach.
There's a lot of bull**** in those points. Like Pac being susceptible to left hooks. So he was hit by a hook, he's suddenly susceptible... Pacquiao a boxer with great feet moving in and out, not standing to trade unless he WANTS to. A boxer of this nature is certainly NOT susceptible to hooks. Or like Pac being susceptible to body attacks, cause he was KOd... when he was in kindergarden. Or like Pacquiao not having power. One must realize that Cotto was fighting to survive as early as the 5th round. It took cement fists to put Cotto down before that fight. Pacquiao did it multiple times. And then to bring up Clottey, who really has never been hurt in a fight. Never looked like going out in a fight. A guy weighing 160 on fight night. There's a lot of crap. Going by this standard, I can make up a big list with all of Floyd's perceived weaknesses.
The question is who is using them? Manny's never been tested positive and neither had Floyd. And just b/c floyd past USADA's tests doesn't place him in the clear......you can drive a mack truck through those testings and get away with doping if you really wanted to....and Money May has the resorces to do so......PAC does too.....interesting.:think
Well I can only speak for my self. I would consider myself a Pac fan, but I´m not a die hard fan (of anyone or anything). But you know being a fan meets rooting for the fighter you want to win not the fighter you think will win. Can I give a rational argument why pac will win? No of course not, I believe Floyd is the favourite and pac the underdog. But that doesn´t matter to me, I´m happy rooting for the fighter I like better and if that fighter wins a fight against all odds, that´s what I love to see. Sorry for sounding like a smartass^^
First of all I don't understand why you're trying to stir the pot on this, no rational fan is picking Pacquiao over Mayweather, it's just a fight we'd all love to see. Now... Lets examine this "overnight" argument that you're making. 1. When fighting at 130 Pacquiao was routinely coming into the ring in the low 140's. 2. Two years later Pacquiao is coming into the ring in the range of 148-150 OMG he gained 6-8lbs.!!!! He must be cheating he put on 5% of his body weight! Why don't we take a look at someone like Adamek, he just went from fighting at LHW to fighting at HW. He would walk into the ring at 190 and now walks into the ring at 220...that's 15%. Where is the outrage? and FYI Pacquiao has NOT gotten any faster.
Shane Mosley has never tested positive either.....:think Anyway, I'm not 100% sure that he's using Peds but I do know he act awfully suspicious whenever the subject is presented to Pac...from his 1. "I dont know what ees steroid" 2. "I don't know what nutritioneest give me" 3. "Im apraid of needles" 4. "No testing pour weeks bepore pight, test makes me weak" 5. "Ployd no make new rules" Even though I okay to make rules. AVOIDING RANDOM DRUG TESTS LIKE IT WAS THE DAMN PLAGUE.:think
INTERESTING enough is that AS PAC HAS MOVED UP from 130 his KO % went up from 75% to 85% :think:think:think How many fighters getan increase in KO ratio as they move up?
My point exactly.....the USADA's testing measure only catches 5% of it's athletes doping and most of the users they catch are caught with THC.:rofl I won't question the statments that are somewhat questionable from Manny and his team but at the same time those are hard questions to have to answer to if you are clean or dirty. The fact is Manny has been KNOWN to be supersticious and has also known to NOT LIKE giving Blood and Floyd knew that. My biggest question is "WHY" ask Manny to test? Floyd has stated that he'd beat the brakes off of him...he said he's smaller and over hyped and that he'd GLADLY humiliate him for his biggest pay day. Yet he's requesting Blood tests from an easy pay day? which actually killed the fight? Which cut into his money? Seriously...the guy calls himself "MONEY" yet he didn't want the easy payday? I don't know bro...that is a bit suspect to me.
