I had to review JLC v Mayweather 1 to see which was the bigger robbery, and I can't believe I actually think Floyd had a case for a draw. 115/113 JLC over Floyd Mayweather Then, reviewing Sergey v Ward, I couldnt find 4 rd to give Andre, and had to gift him a close one where he was hugging and hitting and his compubox #s were higher by 5 than Sergey's clean jabs, and crosses, just to give him 4 rds. 116-111 Sergey Kovalev over Andre Ward.
i think i had it 116-111 or 117-110. kovalev very clearly to me, cleaner work, all ward did was rabbit punch in the clinch which some of the commentators called 'inside work' it was insane. he couldn't compete with the better boxer kovalev, so he's only option was to make the fight as messy and dirty as possible and hope the judges gift him rounds i want to see a rematch or else ward facing beterbiev, beterbiev is a monster on the inside, he's hometown of about 100,000 has about 10 gold medals in the olympics in wrestling. he is a freak of nature on the inside and if ward tried to wrestle him, he will get destroyed
I'm wondering how many 10 10 rounds the three judges of this fight have given in let's say the last three / two years. Lol
I don't think Ward and I hate that it looks like he's trying to get out of a rematch but you name me some fighters who didn't go around taking credit for controversial wins The fight was 6-6 or 7-5 in rounds to me close but clear, it's not like some of the bigger robberies
Oh my, you have to let this go. I thought Kovalev would win, I thought he won on the night but he didn't. It was a close fight and you have to give Ward huge credit for getting off the floor and making it a close fight and getting the decision. Let's all hope they do it again but some of you have to let it go, we all get things wrong and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up, accept you got it wrong, take a little bit of stick from other posters and most importantly credit the winning fighter.
I believe it was a massive robbery because it was such a clear cut night with kov literally out classing ward in every facet of the fight, and he scored a KD.. I can't remember a single round where I believed ward could start building off that to get back in the fight. it was so bad, to me where one would have to literally take the first 5 rounds and throw them away and replace them with 5 evenly fought rounds, that's the only way I could see a close competitive evenly matched fight. If we watched rounds 6 thru 12 that's A evenly fought fight that could go either way. problem is we saw rounds 1 thru 5 and it was a complete mismatch, ward got credit from me for trying to fight back throughout the fight but he was slapped around and owned that night. That's what a robbery is to me, when the losing (on paper ONLY) fighter completely owned his opponent. I gave ward his props for not packing it in and trying to fight back. He showed heart and courage BUT he also proved how over rated he has always been. if he can "win" with that type of performance, he can't lose, ever
Bradley, as bad as that was, he at least had an argument that he sneaked out 4/5 semi clear rounds where ward had no clear rounds. Both bad but kov v ward worse
***** that every fighter handed a robbery needs to be applauded and held as the rightful winner ***** what the fans want or think that's what seems to be coming across from some on here Only in boxing
I actually think your perspective is fair, though I personally disagree with the majority of your post. I had the fight 114-113 Ward I thought after struggling to dictate the pace the first couple of rounds and essentially getting dropped Ward would need to re-establish his positional dominance which he eventually did along with painting the fight in such a fashion that suited a Wardish type of fight. SK seemed to focus more on responding to the possibility of Ward holding and he himself initiated a more than usual amount of awkward and ineffective clinching. Punch stats justified virtually nothing the variances where marginal with one fighter landing slightly more vs the other guy landing at a higher rate of accuracy. The numbers where inconsequential but the tone of the fight showed Ward adjusting, evolving and controlling the pace. SK, while still effective in pockets just could not re-gain his early dominance that was clear for me to see. In my honest opinion this was no where near a robbery and I've had this conversation with several different folks who frequent the inner boxing circle trainers and fighters alike. One thing we all agree on is the fact that we need a rematch. I actually had a vested interest in this fight by putting a nice wager on SK winning.
