I feel the same way. He got up the instant the ref called the fight. That's what I find odd. If you're hurt you're hurt. The pain of a liver shot doesn't instantly dissipate once the count reaches 10.

A mix of both body shots are killer especially when you too big for a weight and have to drain down along with a rehydration clause… all that leads to weaker body and a weaker chin…saying that tho he likely could have kept going in that moment for how much longer who knows

Ryan was legitimately hurt. He had the same delayed reaction Beefy had when Canelo went to the body. He might have been able to stand up, but he would have been very wobbly and just a sitting duck having a hard time breathing or moving. I can't blame him even if he could have stood up because Tank is a vicious puncher. There would have been very little Ryan could do other than hold on (he lacks the clinching skill to survive and recover without getting hit) or cover up with a basic guard. He is no defensive wizard or slick mover.

That shot hurt a lot, Garcia could have made the count, but his best chance at that point was swinging for the fences. It depends on the definition of quit - most of the posters on this board would probably writhing on the ground physically crying in pain fir 5 minutes, but he is a professional boxer and could have kept going. He did close to his best.

I think boxers have to work out whether they're warriors risking their lives in the ring or not. Because we keep hearing that but then keep seeing them depending on refs and corners to stop fights. That's fine, as long as we can all just agree they're not warriors at all, they're in a contact sport with countless safety measures to protect them.

See, the reason why people take issue with the quitting or capitulating in these fights is that they keep hearing all the talk about warriors and all the fake machismo from the boxing culture. So the reality doesn't live up to it much of the time. Same with them constantly avoiding tough fights and only wanting to bully easier opponents.

If fighters weren't talking all their rubbish and admitted they were simply in boxing matches, not on battlegrounds, and would rather walk away than take unnecessary damage if they were losing, probably the fans would be less critical of these types of moments.

I think Ryan gave it his best effort to stay standing but the liver shot forced him to take a knee. But after he was down he didn't try to stand back up.

I love the most of you guys would be dead or writhing in pain over that shot line etc.

Youre right of course we would, we arent in the gym doing hours upon hours of Core work and endurance work. Like the true elites do, the ones at the the very top.

Alot of true elite fighters are truly impervious to body shots, the amount of punishment they do to themselves in the gym, they make there core, abs, flanks like ****ing rock.

He could of been drained and that would of affected his strength and resistance.

I wonder if Garcia has done the same or he was out partying too much.
Garcia aint elite man. I think vice versa Davis gets up or doesnt even go down.
