    Ward's body shots did not have any effect on Kovalev, they were too smothered and had zero power......................Kovalev needs to go out and knock Ward out cold to get a draw....................Kovalev should have known that he could not get a decision in Vegas.................Kovalev won the fight, but the criminal judges were crooked.............

    Don't find anything funny with exception that you don't know a lot about GGG but pretend that you know.

    As far as I remember you are the one who said that Kovalev is a better boxer than GGG and that's what is really funny and tells a lot about your understanding of GGG, since Kovalev is technically limited and levels lower technically than GGG and based what Kovalev was able to show against Ward I can definitely say that GGG can outpoint Ward.

    Comparing GGG to Kovalev, GGG has much better footwork, GGG IQ is way higher, GGG has better stamina, GGG jab is better, GGG overall technically is much better boxer, GGG is way more experienced and has the power that gave edge to Kovalev against Ward

    Why are you Kovalev fans so dishonest. Kovalev was the one that initiated the holding everytime Ward got close.

    Ward needs to take the rematch first before we discuss what they need to do.

    The most important things for Kovalev to do are:

    - have 3 different judges
    - have a different ref
    - have a crowd that is at least neutral, if not pro-Kovalev

    As Merchant said after the fight, if this bout took place in Russia, Kovalev wins by 9 points.

    There are things Kovalev can do to improve, but he clearly won the first fight and won it handily.

    If I were Duva, the main thing I would do for a rematch is get it out of the USA. Like in Monaco or somewhere, if not in Russia.

    Finally a good thread. Ward needs to develop his right hand more. He's a left handed fighter obviously. If he can make his straight right more effective it can add even more to his already versatile arsenal of wizardly mixed with his already vast punch selection.

    For Kov. Stamina and cutting off the ring. He can also work on his hooks. He has great straight punches. If he can master mixing in hooking his shots more with his straights he won't look so robotic like he does at times. Both are pretty complete fighters so neither in all actuality need much.

    You're still the same guy. Funny but haven't changed a bit.

    Mislead sounds more right. Emotional, throw in some soreness but hey.

    The judges didn't take away Kovs right hand and stamina. Ward did that. Judges didn't make where Kov couldn't finish the job.

    No. I watch fights with the sound down and stay as far away from emotionalism as possible. You have to call it as it is.

    As I told someone yesterday, I watched Chavez-Whitaker in college at a bar and was very disappointed with what happened. But that didn't change the fact that Whitaker got robbed. Which he did.

    Ward got a gift on Saturday. That's how most of the people watching the fight scored it, and they are correct.

    It happens in boxing. Not the first time, and won't be the last time.

    Reposted from another thread:

    My score is exactly the same as Harold Lederman's score except I gave Kovalev the 8th round and he did not. I am guessing that my score (117-110) is probably exactly how Doug Fischer of Ring Magazine (also 117-110 for Kovalev) scored the bout. Here is Lederman's card with the highlighted difference in my own card:

    R01 ===> 10-9 SK
    R02 ===> 10-8 SK
    R03 ===> 10-9 SK
    R04 ===> 10-9 SK
    R05 ===> 10-9 AW
    R06 ===> 10-9 SK
    R07 ===> 10-9 AW
    This content is protected

    R09 ===> 10-9 SK
    R10 ===> 10-9 SK
    R11 ===> 10-9 AW
    R12 ===> 10-9 SK

    Lederman ====> 116-111 Kovalev
    Me, D. Fischer ==> 117-110 Kovalev

    =====================================================

    The fight went almost exactly as I thought it would go: Kovalev hurts Ward early and Ward spends the rest of the fight staying away from Kovalev's power, probably by fighting inside and holding/wrestling. This is why I predicted a Kovalev points victory in the prediction thread.

    Everything went as I thought it would, except -- like Kathy Duva -- I think the crowd influenced the judges in Ward's favor. I didn't think about the "hometown decision" aspect in the fight, and I think that's why Ward got the official decision.

    Ward was tough and stayed with it, but I thought Kovalev won and won handily. I also was surprised at the size and strength difference between the two fighters. Kovalev was the bigger and stronger fighter, to a greater extent than I thought he would be.
