For the current batch of potential opponents, I don't think any of them stand out as being real Canelo-killers. Bivol is technically sound, however even if he edges Canelo he's not winning any decisions. I'm not sure Canelo's handlers will let him fight Beterbiev, perhaps that would be a step too far, and I'd agree.

So who do you think beats him before he retires?

It's a wild card however I think Munguia, as barbaric and technically inefficient as he has (at times) shown himself to be, could be the one to do it. It's a few years off obviously and technically doesn't come under this "batch" of potentials however at the times they could fight, in say 2-3 years, Canelo will be on the down turn and Munguia will be at his peak. I think it will be a classic and one that Canelo could take an L.

Bivol will get robbed, Canelo will win a clear decision against Charlo and Beterbiev will be 39 when they finally cross paths.

Canelo will lose in his late 30s to a future ATG in their young stage. He's played chess with his matchmaking and he has too many A side advantages. He wont be losing anytime soon, unless the judges are fair when he fights Bivol

I don't really understand the criticism of Canelo to be honest.

It is well known that as a pro he has still fought more fights at Welterweight than all his other fight weights put together. The fact that he is now considering fighting unbeaten Light Heavyweights and even Cruisers is just unfathomable.

We need to give credit where it is due here surely.

Based on trends, Canelo and his team will continue with their fixed fights.. In that sense he is "unbeatable"

I think it's Bivol. If he can get in a rhythm with straight punches, getting off first, and movement I could see it looking like a mix of GGG I and AJ vs Usyk.

With Beterbiev I think Canelo knows what he's getting into so if the fight happens it's because he can win it.

The rest are some mix of unproven or proven not that good or GGG who is a whole can of worms.

I'm going to go with Gilberto Ramirez. He has other factors going for him. Obviously, he's talented. I like his age, his size and his reach. He's tough and, because Zurdo is not on Canelo's radar at the moment, he won't fight him until late 2023 or 2024. By then the wear and tear of close to 65 fights will have started to catch up with the redhead.

Of course, a lot of the same things can be said for David Benavidez.

Golovkin already beat him twice, just didn't get the decision.

Bivol would have a good chance of beating him too, but he probably won't get the decision either. Same for Benavidez etc

Canelo v GGG 3, will be similar to Pac v Marquez 3 in that Golovkin will lose but it will be his strongest claim to winning this far leading to Canelo v GGG 4, where Golovkin fights fire with fire and flattens Canelo while covered in acne.

I think the only person who will beat him will be the one who knocks him out.
He's had good match making and I imagine he will retire before facing an up and coming ATG for that to happen.
It's pretty clear that no one will get a decision win against him going of his history.
