    I do.

Emile sometimes took a while to get going; I see Cotto holding his own in the first six rounds or so, until Griffith starts to accelerate. At that point, he probably gets ground down and eventually stopped over 15. Over 12, he lasts the distance but loses clear on the scorecards.

Well, I can agree with that 12 round analysis. But I don't see him winning many rounds. I saw Cotto winning 4 ot 5 against Mayweather.

I was being pretty literal about the ebb and flow not going Cotto's way as much. I think that'll be the case, but yeah, I'm sure he will be in there for the first five rounds or so. Not as in there as he was with a 36 (or summat) Floyd who wasn't anywhere near as rugged or strong as Griffith. I think Cotto did well throughout the fight. So even though I do agree with you, I still disagree with you. Does this make any sense or am I already mashed?

If Miguel had a rock chin and elite stamina I could at least see it being a competitive fight (which Emile would still win due to greater strength, size and slightly due to skill as well) but without those qualities, he'd simply get mauled by Griffith.

Emile's not going to fight at the measured pace Mayweather did for 12 rounds, allowing Miguel to recuperate time and again after a blow was landed.

Griffith will lean on him, rough him up, put his heavy hands on him and work him over for nearly every minute of the fight.

And when Miguel's tank hits low, he'll get taken out.

I had Cotto winning three against Mayweather. I think it's possible that he wins three against someone who would take a methodical approach to the opening rounds.

After that, Griffith steps on the gas and pulls away. It's kind of similar in terms of dynamic to the Trout fight (which I had close on my card for a while until Trout swept the championship rounds). I think Griffith starts accelerating a bit earlier, though, and will win by a larger margin.

So yeah...we agree more than disagree, it seems (despite the fact that I'm not yet mashed.)

Cotto's one of my favorite fighters and I feel that he's sometimes maligned a bit unfairly; but this is kind of a bad match-up for him. A bigger, stronger, well schooled opponent like Griffith should be able to replicate the success that Trout had against Cotto when they fought in December.

Cotto is a decent fighter but shouldn't be matched against any great welterweights.I don't think we needed to see any recent fights to realise that.

Keep him to the Randy shields, Colin Jones, Pete Ranzany, Milt McCrory, Mo blocker, Oba Carr, Jose Luis Lopez, James Page sort of contender level and you can get decent back and forth debates.

that said i think creating a thread matching him with one just to later say he'd be smashed to bits and have no chance is a bit harsh.

    shame on you, red:bbb
