Please vote "Didn't watch the fight" if you didn't watch it.

For those of you that did, what was your scorecard?

I had it 7-5 Winky. Closer than i had anticipated based on how Winky's camp always saids how he was "robbed". It was a close but clear win for Winky IMO but no way a "robbery".

all i remember was winky outboxed him most of the fight and fernando came on strong towards the end. i don't buy that championship rounds bull****. a round is a round. how is it a fighter may win 8 rounds in between but if the other wins the final 4 has a chance to take it? and that's cuz i was a hardcore vargas fan back then, but winky won that one

Ive got to say Ive only seen it the once, a couple of years ago. Hardly enough to have an educated opinion on it but at the time I had it 7 to 5 for Wright aswell.

It was close but I though it was clear for Wright. In a way it doesnt matter if its by a mile or by an inch if you thought you were entitled to a win and didnt get it...you are always going to feel ripped off.

Something like 117-111 Vargas. Winky did fine work with the jab and the right hook, but Vargas would come back with 4 and 5 punch combinations and did brilliant body work. The idea that Winky was robbed is an unbelievable myth, he didn't do near enough to call it a victory. Vargas was many times more diversified in his attack, worked alot more than Winky even in just basic generic activity, outscored Winky, and won that fight no question, hands down. Vargas would lead, Winky would counter back sharply, and then Vargas would end the exchange by throwing a combination that worked both upstairs and down, in most cases. It was Vargas, Winky, and then Vargas again, over and over.

I do not recall Vargas being very effective though..Im sure Winky ended up throwing more and landing more cleanly.

LOL, I loved putting that score up. ^

Geez man, come on yourself. You can come off the high horse. I don't give a **** what popular opinion is. Obviously.

Neither did I, until I watched it again. Nothing on you, mate, but alot of newbs get confused listening to the commentary for that fight. It was WAAAAY off the mark.

Not whatsoever. What's popularly understood and what the truth is are almost always completely different things. I liked putting that score up because I knew that idiots would jump on it. :rofl

i had it a close fight it could of really gone either ways, but it kinda gave me an impression winky took it by landing more. it seemed winky's faster punches were having more effect on fernando than his on winky. vargas looked busy alright, busy getting outboxed. this fight should of been a draw at the least imo

    8-Winky
    9-Winky
    10-Vargas
    11-Winky
    12-Vargas

I had it 7-5 Wright. Pretty close fight, but I struggle to see more than 5-6 Vargas rounds.

    116-112 Wright.

I can't see how Vargas won 7 rounds of the fight.

I thought Winky won easily, though I didnt score rounds.

Remember Vargas was the up and coming prospect and HBO loved him. He had the HBO contract and was the media darling.

It really hurt Winkys career and put him off the radar for a few years after this fight before he was back on HBO again. That is what upsets me the most about this fight. If vargas got the loss (which I think he should have) it wouldnt have hurt his career as much. He went on to have tons of fights after losses where as with Winky, one loss and he has a hardtime finding big matchups again.
