I too think Arguello would have been just another great on Duran's resume. Duran was just as skilled if not more skilled, faster and equal power. Alexis had a good height advantage though. UD Duran in a very tough bloody brutal fight.
How many greats did Duran have on his resume? I count one that he beat, and lost 2 rematches to. Otherwise he lost to them all. But I'd still likely take him over Arguello in a great fight.
:good my second facvorite fighte all time. alexis was simply a very methodical fighter who i seldom remember being taken out of his game plan. and that includes th e pryor fight. unfortunately imo too much emphasis is placed on those fights when he is evaluated, but the fact is that the 140 alexis was nowhere near the fighter who dominated 130, and 135. and i agree with you that if his only interest was to merely claim a title at 140 he could have done so easily by fighting mamby, but to his credit he wanted the best that 140 had to offer. one small correction. he was the second latin fighter to win titles in 3 divisions. benitez beat him to that by less than a month.
