The fight will happen because there's so much money involved for it to. Money talks in boxing. Always has and always will. I wouldn't mind him fighting Roy just to watch him spark him
**** that, i will always give RJJ a shot at beating anyone even now cause of how good he was...but my money would be on Joe the senior citizen basher
:huh He beat Hopkins, world recognised Light Heavyweight champion. I agree though, if Roy did get back in with him, we'd see a repeat of this: :rofl This content is protected
I just appreciate talent when I see it. I've been saying Joe is one of the better boxers I've seen for many a year. You can't blame me now that his full talent is being realised. As for the other part, well you can live in denial if it helps you sleep better, but it's cold hard fact.
Joe just isn't that good though, not compared to Roy anyway. He struggled with a 43 year old Hopkins. Prime Roy would have absolutely whupped him. I don't think it goes past 8 rounds. Total dominance. You keep saying Hopkins was the recognized undisputed champion... By who... Ring Magazine? He had lost twice to Taylor, and looked pretty awful in just beating a very blown up jr middleweight. Joe dominated Lacy, who has gone on to do nothing. Which has really taken away from the win. Lacy really doesn't have any significant wins, to make him a great scalp. Kessler hasn't done anything of note either. Dawson will SCHOOL the crap out of Kessler, and then Joe's resume is in tatters. All he has is an old Eubank, and old hopkins, and a couple decent title holders. Nothing special. Roy Jones Jr in comparison, is the first guy to win titels from middle to heavy, dominated the sport as the number 1 p4p guy for over a decade. Beat multiple HOF, and possibly 2 ATG's (his victory of Hop easily more significant). Dominanted all his opposition in brutal fashion, compared to Calzaghe who struggled with Reid, and has looked poor at times against limited opponents. They are not even comparable.
If taking steroids can turn you into the greatest boxer to ever live, then get me some ****ing juice dammit.... Someone obviously forgot to tell Mosley how it works agianst Oscar the 2nd time, or for Toney in his recent abismal outings. If you think steriods made Roy the fighter his is, and gained him his legacy, you should go down to the local gym, and find the next ATG. I won't hold my breathe.
I used to not like Joe, simply because of his poor opposition, but he has stepped it up no doubt. In saying that, Bika proved a tough fight for him, but at the time, Joe was slandered for choosing someone like Bika as an opponent. Even Beyer was slandered for fighting Bika just one fight before. Bika's stocks are now higher than they were when he fought Joe, but at the time he was considered a garbage opponent, and not world class.
I don't understand how he suddenly became world class?? Was it by losing to Soliman, Bute, Calzaghe or winning the Contender? I can't work out which is worse.
Well, I don't really consider him world class even now. More a decent contender. I was just saying that his stocks were a lot lower when Calzaghe fought him than they are now.
So you're insuating that taking performance enhancing drugs doesn't...um...enhance a performance? Jones' talent is considerable, that's not in question. But his legacy is tarnished as a result of it. Did he need it? Probably not, that's the biggest shame. If he's the greatest boxer to ever live, may I suggest you get some footage of some blokes named Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Willie Pep, Joe Louis, some geezer named Cassius Clay.... none of whom ever failed a drugs test.
